Repost for sure. Also, the breaks and buffers on this map are wildly skewed. Siberia, Australia, Sinai Peninsula, Alaska (among other regions) show an overlap of population density and population desert. If the dataset is really and truly complete, the data manipulation is mildly creative.

Most maps forget New Zealand, this one has two of em haha
You can see all the deserts except the Middle East is more populated.
