Typhoon Krathon lashes northern Philippines A powerful typhoon is battering the northern Philippines. At least two people are dead, and one missing.

Authorities say Typhoon Krathon has affected more than 77,000 people.

Local officials in Ilocos Norte, a province of Luzon island, say an 87-year-old woman was found dead outside her home. Another person died at an evacuation center.

Disaster agency officials say 2,000 people on the island have evacuated after their homes were flooded or destroyed.

Weather forecasters in the Philippines say the typhoon has intensified slightly. They say it was off the coast as of Tuesday, but could make another approach on Wednesday.
