So this almost happened to me… twice. Once in Thailand and another in China. Seriously watch out folks, life can be taken at any time.

Nearly happened to me yesterday, walking toward a village called Perton near Wolverhampton and a huge branch from a tree falls down right in front of me. If I’d have been literally 5 seconds ahead I’d be gone.
My condolences to the family, horrible to lose someone without warning like this, no chance even to say goodbye.

Some of the trees on suburban streets are dangerous, but don’t look it. There was a tree that recently fell outside my parents’ house, and it was a pretty big tree so it was fortunate nobody was walking nearby because that would have definitely killed someone. Someone had a look at the remains afterwards, and the tree was completely dead and rotten on the inside.
Makes me wonder how many other trees are out there that look sturdy but are practically hollow to the point where a strong breeze will knock them down.

He was a tree surgeon.

His uncle is Gary Lineker and the father of his half brother is Will Carling. The former England RFU captain. So his mother was banging the England Rugby captain, whilst her sister was banging the English football captain. Carling certainly liked to go out with England stars, like Diana. As well as his team mates wives.

It’s completely tragic. Goes to show how these freak accidents can happen at any time. Awful.
In saying that, does anyone find it weird that the family set up a crowd funding page? I totally understand it when it’s a family who are struggling to afford a basic funeral, but I don’t get it outside of that unless the person has say, made some outstanding contribution to society that people feel they should honour etc. As of writing the article they had raised £32k. I feel that charity could be much better spent elsewhere.

Trees are dangerous… as a city dweller I never appreciated it until I was at a friend’s outdoor party in Storm Evert a few years ago and a (live!) oak tree got ripped out of the ground and caused life changing injuries to two others there. I was right under the spot where the tree fell probably about 20 minutes prior. A tree surgeon wouldn’t have even picked it up.
I’m now wary about being near trees in high wind. Not that we need another thing to be paranoid about, but always worth having in the back of your mind when you’re in inclement weather near any large tree that they’re not nailed down.
