At three times you should lose your license forever never mind four

If you had asked me to guess would have guessed 3000+ not 300 tbf.
Ooh downvotes, I’m just happy it’s a lot lower than I would have guessed. Sorry I wasn’t chilled I guess

I am assuming most that get caught are simply people suffering from dependence on Alcohol. Also considering the difference in the amount of cars on the road compared to 1980 they should be happy that the rates are so low. For those that did not read the article they are trying to claim having similar rates to the 1980s is a bad thing when the reality is a success mainly down to the decline of the pub.

There’s no excuse for it, but maybe if public transport were better then people would be less inclined to drive drunk.

Given how few police exist on the roads, I am surprised they catch so many.

It’s all about the probability of being caught. It’s all about having the Police presence to catch offenders

I do worry that we are becoming to blaze about driving in this country. I would like to see changes to remind people that driving is a privilege not a right. If you can’t respect how dangerous it is, you should not be driving. If you have been caught drink driving once, I certainly think you should be losing your license for some time. It is such a stupid thing to do and if you have been caught four times, it is probably a regular occurrence. If you have been caught more than once, I don’t think you should ever be allowed to drive a car again. I am not sure that temporary driving bans deter people and if you are regularly putting other road users at risk, you should not be allowed to drive a car.

Said this before but how is it basically impossible to lose your licence here?

I’ve noticed people going to the pub saying they’re only having 2 because they’re driving but then they have 4 or 5 pints. I think it’s common to be honest but if I ever have more than 1 drink I won’t drive, don’t have the best attention span sober. As others are saying though taxis are expensive the last few years a short 1 mile trip into town from here costs £7-8 now ..used to be about £3.50. Should be occasional late night trains 11pm is quite early as a cut off isn’t it..

The trouble is that the chances of getting caught are quite low especially in rural areas where there is a very small police presence . Unless you are involved in an accident and the police attend you can pretty much get away with it.

How are people this shit? Its not hard to avoid drink driving.
Have you consumed alcohol in the last 24 hours? Yes? Dont drive. No? Drive son drive
At the first offense they should execute you, and increase the severity of the punishment for second and third offenses

The problem here is the same as the problem with the 96 year old lady who didn’t go to prison for killing a pedestrian with her car.
Many people have no alternatives to driving because we have built a car centric society.
Car centric societies are dangerous because people cannot drive responsibly.
We need to decentralise cars as the primary means of personal transportation.

>Some 372 were caught at least four times, including four who were prosecuted on seven occasions.
More and more it seems the justice system in this country is run by clowns.
Who lets someone with 6 drunk driving offences keep their licence? That judge should lose their licence.
