Maybe this is a bit of niche complaint, but for the love of god if anyone here works at RTE, can you please go out to whatever prefab they film the weather forecast in these days and fix the depth of feild. I can’t take these poxxy out of focus presenters anymore.
Seems like it’s been his way for months! The woeful blue screen I’m used to, but I’d like to get my incessant rain forecasts from somebody in focus for a change. Cheers.

  1. Shhhh! They’ll say they need to increase the TV license to be able to afford good lenses or bigger sets!

I agree, say this every time I watch the Weather, its embarrassing stuff. It’s like they are using a flip phone to film it.

I always say it when it’s on the telly. I used to work with livestreaming and green screens. All they have to do (which I’d say they already do) is tape down a line that he can’t cross to stay in focus if its a camera where you have to set it and can’t change it. They have the cameras able to do clear videography. But no. It’s like the weather person is in the witness protection program

Am I imagining it, or was it better before? Strangely, it seems that they downgraded the quality rather than it being a case of old tech that was never updated.

Open to being corrected, but I’m convinced this was not a thing a few years back. Or perhaps Jean Byrne’s famous dresses just distracted me from it.

  5. It’s not the camera, those people are blurry in person. It’s a terrible affliction and there’s no cure

  6. You’d think the national television broadcaster of Ireland would be above to focus a camera at minimum but nope

  7. You really don’t want to see most RTE presenters without the blur.

Its intentional, there’s a “someone needs to kill that thing before it turns into a full vampire” feeling to it.
