Sorry, that’s probably my kids. Literally doesn’t matter what I put in front of them. At least half of it ends up in the brown bin.

Restaurants paid article so they can justify giving smaller portions for environmental reasons instead of profit reasons

Doesn’t surprise me as one of the wealthiest countries.

A lot of people didn’t read past the headline “Unlike most other EU countries where householders are responsible for the largest share of food waste, the latest figures show food manufacturers in Ireland account for the biggest share of the problem at 31 per cent – representing an average of 45kg of food waste per inhabitant.”
Also we rank 3rd lowest for household food waste !

Surely it’s all the super generous Mediterranean & Balkan countries that give you enough food to feed a village. NL must be last on food waste – a few pieces of food for you and a tikkie

We’re a disgrace of a nation, no notion of how good we have it comparatively speaking

I blame the terrible dates on food items lately

Well we had roast chicken for dinner and I’ve picked it clean 3 times already, might have one more go before bed.

My dad cooks massive portions of food and fucking dumps half of it, he really doesn’t give a fuck, wonder if most Irish people are like him?

I work in retail and should see what gets thrown out daily. It’s disgusting.

You should see how much gets thrown in the bin from free school lunches every day. Crazy. Probably 50 apples, 100 fruit pots, 40 sandwiches, 30-50 cartons of milk. Every. Day.

I work in a kitchen, and yeah the amount of food waste is astounding.
The amount of perfectly edible food that I couldn’ just because it didn’t look aesthetically nice, and not to mention people who don’t finish their food.
I’ve started making a conscious effort not to waste food at home or at work,

Food waste in my house is zero. I compost, and I have chickens, so absolutely nothing is wasted.

Genuinely can’t remember the last time we left a plate not empty, people I know are super aware of food waste, so it’s not a household issue in my circle anyway
