The F-16s will make their final goodbye flight today over all major airbases in the Netherlands (incl. Former Airbase Soesterberg) as the F-35 is now fully operational. End of an era.

  2. The internships! Most important contribution.

But no seriously, there’s a lot of European contributions to the F-35 project and it has indeed turned out to be a pretty good plane. Few can match it.

  3. I’m not security expert but this kind of information should be confidential. Sure these could be found out from a captured or downed aircraft by taking it apart, but they’d still miss something and that’s good. Otherwise it’s just painting targets for espionage on those companies, while they might have had that issue in the past regardless, now there is a reason to intensify it.

  4. I think this is missing at least one.

    ASML Holding.

Well, technically, they made the machines that other companies use to make semiconductors, which then provide those semiconductors to companies that made the semiconductor components of the plane.

But seriously, ASML Holding currently has a monopoly on Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography machines. If the thing needs semiconductors, ASML Holding is likely involved in the production chain somewhere along the way.
