And they say it’s the younger generations that are “entitled”…

The richest generation doesn’t like being fucked over with their own mess. Tragic.
Willing to put the country billions in debt just so they can pocket £300 for the next few years.
Me me me generation. At it again.
Boomers can dish it out but they can’t even handle a little bit of it.
Broke the golden rule. Never mess with the pensioners.
If you’re sitting in a 350k house why the fuck are the government giving you money? You’re a benefit skank….and you lot are always the first to bang the drum about cutting benefits….well we’re cutting your benefits.
Given all this backlash I think it’s safe to say the triple lock is here to stay.
This explains why all the boomers are crying about labour on all the local Facebook community groups. Fuck ’em all. It brings me great satisfaction to see them whine and bitch and moan.
Benefits should be allocated solely on financial need. Not age.
£20k mortgages back in the day now living in 200k houses. Entitled asf. Most* of them spend it on gadgets anyway.
They seem entitled, students didn’t get consulted before the change to tuition fees, as an example.
> The case’s argument rests on the accusation both governments failed to adequately consult with those of pension age on the change

Maybe they should give up their take away coffees and avocado toast for the winter to see them through
If you have money for frivolous lawsuits that stand no chance of success, you clearly don’t need winter fuel payments.
Maybe they should sue themselves for not saving enough when they were younger or not having a private pension.
I bet they voted brexit too.
Why do they keep calling it a cut? It’s simply an introduction of a means testing process.
Side point, but why do Scottish Nationalists always insist on calling it the “London Government” or “Westminster Government” but then Holyrood as the “Scottish Government”?
Either call them London and Edinburgh or UK and Scottish. I bet they are the exact same people who complain about Americans referring to the UK as England.
Oh of course it zooms out in the article and it’s Alex Salmond on their right hand side.
You might not have agreed with his position on Scottish independence but as soon as he resigned he seems to dedicated his remaining time on this earth to undermining the Scottish government at every opportunity
Love to see it. Entitlement driving pointless actions
All thats happening is that winter fuel payment is becoming means tested, just like most other benefits and just like it should have always been.
Because it’s means tested, literally every pensioner whining about losing it is doing so because they’re rich enough to not need it and have to pay their way like everyone poorer than them.
Listening to a phone in about this on BBC Radio 4 yesterday. The amount of pensioners ringing in pleading poverty when they were obviously able (from their other remarks) to afford a decent standard of living was mind boggling.
Maybe axing the 5% VAT on utilities will help trim things a wee bit too?
Not arguing that the means tested level should be higher. Just arguing that all pensioners should get free money. Comes across as Pathetic and grasping.
The wealthiest age demographic is being forced to pay for their own fuel if they can afford it! This is an outrage, younger people that can’t afford the simple basics of existence should be FORCED to continue to shoulder the burden!
They won’t win this, even if I think the government should have handled this better the truth is pensioners are not immune to the same cuts as everyone else. This kind of case is thrown out every time it comes up.
>The case’s argument rests on the accusation both governments failed to adequately consult with those of pension age on the change and did not release an equality impact assessment on the changes.
I’d wager Labour are doing one as I type, so even if they lost it’s covered.
The pension generation these days are so entitled, why don’t they just get a job and work like the rest of us? They want everything for nothing. They should give up the Saga holidays and latest Rascals first.
Here’s a thought – why don’t they go and get themselves a part time job instead of expecting me to pay more tax to give money to people who don’t need it?
Or do any one of the things that their generation told millennials to do during the GFA and Cameron governments.
I wonder who is funding that? It would be interesting to find out.
My parents literally started having a pop about this in a cafe earlier, and said it would make Christmas harder because it helps them to pay for presents.
They did not like it when I said the state should not be funding their Christmas purchases.
Surely they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps and cut down on the avocado’s?
Triple lock pay rise will more than cover this no matter the fact its means tested so people who really need it will continue getting it. Fucking boomers, take take take.
In Scotland, those pensioners might actually be successful.
Maybe if they pulled up their socks and stopped jetting off to Benidorm three times a year they could afford to live within their means.
The stat a few years ago was that 27% that owned assets worth £1 million, wasn’t it?
Doesn’t seem ok to hand out money to all of them, tbf.
