      I don’t think people understand the scale of what’s actually happening in basically every major UK city. It’s frequently ignored because it either poses inconvenient questions or simply because police don’t have the resources to deal with it. But it is rampant. It’s on your doorstep. Our children aren’t safe.

      If it was explained that people in jail for minor crimes were finishing their sentence on licence to make room for gangs like this, and the one a few weeks ago maybe people would be more receptive to it. Of course if we’d given thought to prison capacities anytime in the last decade it wouldn’t be an issue.
