And yet if you reduce the cost to purchase said homes(will likely require government subvention), Bob the Builder doesn’t need to earn €100k to afford one while his wife also does and they juggle childcare so they can eventually become viable as we reduce costs.
But John & Mary don’t get their investment opportunity from that approach & Jürgens pension scheme is fucked too.
How is it that the rest of Europe (barring the UK to some extent) manages to do apartments and these islands cannot?

Mr O’Connell said the average cost of building an apartment in Dublin, though it varies according to location and whether the blocks have a basement, is in excess of €500,000, and they are more expensive than building a house.
I’m not in construction, how is this possible?
Create a help to buy scheme…….. again…………💥
I’d love to see a breakdown of costs compared to other European countries.
Land price, architectural and engineering, labor, materials, fees and taxes, etc. I have a feeling the material costs will be significantly higher than the average.

Something doesnt add up here, it says it costs 2,363 per sq meter to build an apartment, if it also costs 500k to build an average apartment they are around 211 sq meters, a massive luxury penthouse by anyones standard. So which figure is wrong, the 2,363 is in line with other building figures, so looks like the 500k is just made up or massive exaggeration?
