    Poland’s Donald Tusk declares war on beavers

    As Poland struggles under the weight of deadly flooding caused by heavy rains across Central Europe, the Polish prime minister blamed beavers for exacerbating the problems.

    At a recent crisis team meeting Tusk raised the issue of dam and dike safety — which, he said, is being threatened by the furry animals.

    Beavers create their own dams to make a comfortable home for their families while protecting themselves from predators — but, according to some researchers, with whom Tusk seems to agree, those dams can damage riverbanks, weaken levees through burrowing and cause a buildup of water.

    “Sometimes you have to choose between love for animals and the safety of cities, villages and the stability of dikes,” Tusk said, adding that infrastructure must be defended from beavers and that the government will allow any action, within the law, against beavers to safeguard levees.

      If only Donald listened to the warnings about the floods the same way he listens to stuff about beavers…

      BUTTT My favorite is where he(his campaign) got paid a nice sum of money to have a recent college grad from chicago be an advisor to him lmfao…. cant wait for this guy to be run out of Poland for a 2nd time

      I was never Mr. Tusk voter, but I must admit that recently he is growing on me. If he just wasn’t in the coalition with the Left… (although at least he has not given very important governmental roles  to the leftists).

      Tusk is just mirror Kaczyński, The Party Chairman deciding on everything by one-person fiat, a universal expert on every topic.

      This is why so many Polish people love him so much, because they, too, are universal experts on every topic xD

      Will outstanding Polish artists organize a protest, just like when the mass shooting of wild boars was planned? I don’t know, but I can guess. Let’s stop pretending that they have any ideals. And yes, I supported protests in defense of wild boars.

      PIS did not build dams and detention basins in Klodzko area, but beavers are responsible for flood?
      Quite interesting.
      For me it looks like someone has to be blamed, so why not animals. And there are people in our government (PSL i mean) who likes to shoot animals.

      I’m not sure if beavers are responsible for digging burrows in flood embankments or other animals. But i’m not biologist, do not know.

      What a fucking stupid statement! Blaming bobers for dam issues. If there was a dam issue caused by bobers, then it is problem of dam administration, they should check if dam is okay. Just leave the poor animals out of it. Actually bobers are creating natural reservoirs of water, we just don’t let them do it because we build artificial ones.

      So probably they will just reduce their numbers, nothing special about it, especially seeing how friendly Tusk is with the hunter lobby
