Japan builds Expo 2025 buzz with commemorative coins Japan’s Finance Ministry is hoping to mint excitement for the coming World Expo 2025 in Osaka. It has unveiled designs for commemorative coins to mark the event that’s scheduled to kick off next April.

The ministry will be issuing 10,000-yen gold coins and making a third issue of 1,000-yen silver coins.

The 10,000-yen coin with a face value of about 70 dollars features the Expo’s official character Myaku-Myaku and the Japan Pavilion.

The 1,000-yen coin with a face value of about 7 dollars will also have the character as well as a rainbow and lights depicted in color.

The reverse sides of both will carry the Expo’s official logo.

The 10,000-yen coins will be issued for a sale price of about 1,870 dollars each, including tax. 1,000-yen coins will go for 106 dollars each.

The Japan Mint will accept applications to buy the coins for about three weeks starting March 6 of next year.
