  1. Don’t airlines generally offer grievance rates that are lower than advertised rates if you tell them you are going to a funeral? I know Southwest does this.

I’m not saying she is wrong, it is just a weird example. Like claiming that in the future, restaurants might use data to figure out it is your birthday and charge extra for dessert

  2. I thought they offered bereavement rates (discounts) when a loved one dies.  At least they used to.

  3. Lina Khan: Airlines poisoned our water supply, burned our crops and delivered a plague unto our houses!

    American public: They did?

Lina Khan: No… But are we just gonna wait around until they do?

Happens in Brazil. People get buried fast here, next day or day after.
Airlines make a fortune from last minute bookings.

More than they are charging me to check my bag and eat food on the plane on top of the flight fare?

Color me surprised that they would ever think about doing this!

  6. Already possible if you aggregate the right data which is available.

Maybe 3 years or less from being a reality.

All the bits and pieces already exist. Dynamic pricing, rent price manipulation, risk assessments and rate increase by insurance companies based on drone recon. The list goes on and on.
