  1. > He confirmed no rent arrears were due and that Mr Kawa had been a good tenant while he resided at the house at Adamstown Avenue, Lucan, Co Dublin.

Fair enough, if he’s not lying (I’m making no judgement on this here, it can be tough living with family)

    > While he had served a notice of termination in October 2022 with a vacate date of June 5th, Mr Bates said he had “pleaded” with the tenants since January 2023 to leave the property.

Plenty of notice, this isn’t looking great for the renters

    > (RTB) … also ordered the landlord, Christopher Bates, to return €1,099 in rent that was retained despite tenant Krzysztof Kawa paying it in advance of the illegal eviction.

Ok, beginning to not like the sound of Master Bates here.

    > Mr Bates was also ordered to pay … unjustifiably withheld deposit of €1,050.

    > He confirmed no rent arrears were due and that Mr Kawa had been a good tenant while he resided at the house at Adamstown Avenue, Lucan, Co Dublin.

Ah, so Master Bates is actually a cunt, and was probably trying to get the tenent out so he could jack up the rents.

    > Mr Bates claimed his son, who is a fire officer, disconnected electricity to the property as there were burnt plug sockets that could have gone on fire “at any moment”, though he admitted to changing the locks to the house.

His son is also a fucking cunt. If we pretend for a second that he was correct, that’s on the landlord to fix

  2. What an absolute bastard.

That article reads like some kind of dystopian horror novel. Imagine being a good tenant for 13 years, and then overnight this happens.

And the guards, ‘civil matter’. It wouldn’t have been a ‘civil matter’ if the family broke back in.

  3. Looks like the tenant was overholding going by the timeline. Another argument for why we need strong laws to enforce evictions in a prompt manner when the eviction date elapses.

  4. This happened to me last year, most people on this sub told me suck it up cos “thats just how it is”
