Saw these police lookalike cars on the gateway today but it didn’t have ‘police’ anywhere on the cars. It also looks like they’ve used duct tape to cover the brand of the car? Does anyone know if this is actual legal?

  1. Not illegal to put blue and white checkers on your car (there’s some security companies that do it on their little Yaris/Echo things). Judging by the extra antenna, I’d say legit and just missing a few decals for whatever reason.

  2. IANAL, but I suspect it would be like dressing as a policeman/woman: generic police uniform is OK, but claiming to be a police officer or having the QPS insignia would land you in the shit.

  3. You can see by the similar but not exact markings on the ambulance that they are Film Studio vehicles. Probably a current production being filmed.

my guess is they are ex cop cars that were sold at auction with the least amount of stuff removed to comply with the law possible. that said some of those 000 stickers seem a bit crooked so idk maybe the whole thing is crooked.

  5. Even if not straight up an offence, why would anybody want to do this if their intent is not nefarious?

  6. Definitely a prop car for a film. They cover up the word “police” when travelling them to and from set.
