An Austrian friend brought this when he was visiting my country. I’ve never eaten pork in this form before. He said it can be eaten raw, without additional cooking or any preparation. Like a snack, just open the packet, cut a piece and eat.

Is that true, or am I being pranked? 😅

  1. Yes. Pair it with some good hearty bread.

It’s not that different from smoked bacon, which is also eaten cold on bread.

this product can be enjoyed cold, but its also quite good when eaten hot. cook it for 30 minutes and serve it with sauerkraut and potatoes.

  3. Yes, absolutely. If you want to treat yourself enjoy with a bit of grated horseraddish and some good mustard.

Don’t heat it if you don’t want to increase nitrosamines or love a higher risk for colorectal cancer.

  5. Slice it thinly , with pickles, some onions, peppers and boiled egg. Also get some whole grain bread and you have some traditional austrian jause 🙂

it’s not raw, but anyway for the future, if you see the prefix JAUSE, on anything edible in Austria……go ahead and gulp it down 👍👍✌️✌️
