  1. As Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris continues to climb in the polls, attention is turning to her Korean-American connections. At the Democratic National Convention last week, her nieces and nephews, who campaigned for her, drew attention to their Asian appearance.

On the third day of the Democratic National Convention at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, Jasper and Aden Emhoff, Harris’s nephews, cheered for their “aunt” on stage.

“No one is busier than auntie, but she always makes time for her family, whether it’s cooking and sharing meals, or moments of storytelling and joking,” Jasper said. Aden emphasized the human side of Harris, saying, “She treats her kids with respect, just like she treats everyone.” “She made me feel important and loved,” he said.

Dr. Judy Lee, the wife of Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff’s brother, is Korean-American. Vice President Harris and Dr. Judy Lee are related. Dr. Lee attended a state luncheon co-hosted by Vice President Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during President Yoon’s state visit to the United States last April.

“There are nearly two million Korean-Americans living in the United States,” Harris said in his remarks, introducing the two dignitaries, ‘and here with me today is a member of my family, my ’sister in law,’ Dr. Judy Lee.” Dr. Judy Lee is reportedly not very active in politics.

Other Korean-Americans that Harris mentioned at last year’s luncheon included Representatives Andy Kim (N.J.) and Marilyn Strickland (D-Wash.), Representative Young Kim (Calif.), and Representative Michelle Parks Steele (Calif.).

Rep. Andy Kim, who took the stage at the Democratic National Convention on Jan. 21, made national news when he was seen cleaning up trash left behind after staunch supporters of former President Donald Trump rioted in Congress on Jan. 6, 2021, in protest of the election results. He is running for the first U.S. Senate seat of Korean descent.

This is so cool. Brat summer is almost over and then I see this good news. I never knew about Kamala’s connection with Korea. She is so brat.
