Projection mapping dazzles at international competition in Tokyo An international projection mapping competition was held in Tokyo on Monday, illuminating the Japanese capital with vibrant colors and captivating visuals.

Eighteen pieces by creators from Japan, Italy, France and elsewhere were projected on the wall of the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery in Meiji Jingu Gaien Park.

Based on this year’s theme “Mirror,” the works were chosen from 278 entries from 56 countries and regions around the world.

Each work featured distinctive images and music, and lasted for more than a minute. One made the building appear to be moving.

Visitors were able to enjoy the visuals along with accompanying audio.

Ishita Michiyuki, a representative of one of the groups that organized the event, said that although projection mapping is a relatively new technique to express visual images, it has been used recently at concerts and sports events.

He said that he wants people to know more about projection mapping through the event.
