Coming back on the bike from Galway to Cork last weekend and the Mrs got very upset that there wasn’t a themepark in Co. Clare …

  1. She’s not from Ireland … had to explain to her that despite there being a Disney-ish castle on the sign that it was Dromoland and not Dromo Land.

But there is one. The theme being how to lose your entire investment and shed half your workforce inside of a decade. Let’s see who can guess where it is.

Not a theme park but Bunratty castle is well worth a visit if you’re in that area again. Lots of period houses and cottages with demonstrations of weaving, metal work, woodwork etc

  4. Every time I drive through County Limerick I make the same lame joke.

How’s Patrick? I ask the missus.

    Shut it, she says.

    Seriously, how’s Patrick?

Divorce papers on the way, she says.

A minute later we drive past the road sign for Patrickswell

  5. I’ve always called it “Dromo-land, my favourite theme park!” Shout out to the lads in the sauna in the inn, where the real locals are allowed in 😉

I’d avoid Dromoland at the moment… overrun by aliens at the moment… https://www.reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/1f8qf0u/ireland_the_emerald_isle_of_mystery/

  7. Slightly off topic but…
Weekend away – pick a county. Pick a few things you want to see, then visit all (mostly) brown sign places between your main stops.
You’ll see some of the worst concrete holy wells and best stone circles and some proper quirky stuff.
It gets you driving through some interesting places too!
Stay in a country house /b&b that has more character than a hotel.
