  1. Just your standard money laundering, organised crime place then. Some proper Pablo Escobar stuff going on with the money rotting away.

  2. All the evidence really interesting (If you are a bit of nerd). Evidence of workers coming over on small boats, wearing Just Eat tops, getting paid in food for quite a long time.

Looks like the premises licence has been revoked. The system works…… Eventually. Has lots of interesting interviews in the supporting documents.

  3. I gave a £5 tip to a delivery person and the look on their face was perplexing. Asking if it was for them while i held it out to them with wide eyes. They looked like a child being given their first note.
Reading this headline brings that persons face into my mind and its concerning.

  4. Find it hard to believe there aren’t a good number more takeaways in this country doing the exact same thing. And probably a bunch of sweet shops and hair dressers.

Previously a takeaway in Lancaster was found to be employing illegal immigrants and the owner [used the business to sexually assault and groom a child](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-39284639). His wife was allowed to continue running the business under the premise that he would not be involved- but oh wait they’ve been [investigated because people have seen him still working there](https://www.lep.co.uk/news/crime/lancaster-takeaway-investigated-after-reports-former-paedophile-owner-is-back-involved-with-premises-2558772). It’s a joke that this stuff is so rife in such a small city such as Lancaster.

  6. The owner has a list of busiesses which seem to conform to the expected – car washes, dodgy holding companies etc

  7. [Local coverage,](https://www.lancasterguardian.co.uk/news/national/lancaster-takeaway-owner-pleads-for-one-last-chance-as-councillors-consider-revoking-his-licence-4779265) including the following strange section:

    >“In mitigation, his solicitors say Mr Collaku was born in Albania. He came to the UK in 2000, went to Lancaster University and got a degree in economics. Today, he lives with his wife and children…”

Not clear which bit of that is migitation

  8. Flames was always a dodgy takeaway, and I can’t say I’m surprised to learn this.

I’m surprised it’s taken so many enforcement visits for anything to happen, however. It shouldn’t be so difficult to close a place like this down on the first offence.

Don’t buy takeaways anymore mostly for the cost but also because of all these dodgy shit like this that happens in them
