    Which one?

Praising Epstein as a great guy who likes his fun?

    The admitting to groping women?

The trying to overthrow an election?

    You gotta specify NYT…

  2. How about the time he tried overthrowing our Democracy by creating a fake elector scheme and fomenting an insurrection to stop the certification of the presidential election?

    Was that acceptable?

  3. How many “truly unacceptable lines” has has he crossed now? You could draw a line across a sheet of college-ruled notebook paper and cross fewer lines.

  4. Since he is still in contention for winning the presidency apparently this is an acceptable line to many. Once his party tries to take him off the ticket, then we can talk about unacceptable lines.

  5. The guy threw a tantrum because he couldn’t be president anymore and tried everything he could to overthrow the US government, almost ending western democracy, but now he’s done something unacceptable? K.

Trump has crossed lines that would be absurd for others.. like thousands times. It’s become normalized for him. Trump does something crazy… just another day.

  7. I can excuse the racism, the sexual assaults, the lying, the cheating, the racism, the treason, the theft of national documents, the racism, the idiocy, the selfishness, the complete disregard for democracy and the racism. But I draw the line at pet-related racism.

Trump hadn’t crossed the unacceptable line, he was born across the line and as spent the last 78 years flaunting about how he can get away with being unacceptable and he got voted in as fucking President for it

  8. Sorry, there is no line. His supporters think Democrats work for Satan, so anything he says or does is okay as long as he promises to protect them from this perceived evil.

This isn’t really about Trump. It’s about the people who believe his lies and the media being complicit is spreading them. Trump repeated an unbelievably outrageous claim, and way too many people accepted it as fact, and never gave it a second thought. The media wanting to generate clicks, ran with it with no reasoned thought and doubt involved. Trump has brought us from ‘fake news’ to ‘fake events’ and the media just shrugs.

  10. It should be noted that Trump’s source for his comment about Haitians eating pets was from someone on Facebook saying a neighbor’s daughter’s friend saw something. The scariest thing for America is that a presidential candidate can be so easily manipulated.

The fact that he and his defrauded their charity for children with cancer wasn’t crossing a line? BTW that happened in 2018. How much of a moral scumbag do have to be to steal from children with cancer

    Presidential candidates are evaluated on:

    1. Character
    2. Policy

Character is basically a person’s moral compass and entails critical qualities like integrity, honesty and experience. More subjective qualities like personality and charisma surely influence our assessment of character.

Policy entails a candidates overall system of beliefs and their proposed plans regarding the relationship of government with its citizens (and non-citizens) as well as its relationship with corporate and foreign powers.

In my opinion, number 2 is irrelevant if a candidate fails number 1.

Character and integrity are so important because being an effective President is akin to coaching a team or conducting an orchestra. It is crucial that the President surrounds themselves with the best, brightest and most qualified specialists. By demanding a President with character, voters insure that the President’s team reflects this character, holds themselves to the highest standards, and guarantees fundamental checks and balances to Presidential power. A President, or leader in general, who prioritizes loyalty over quality and fealty over fair-play, will surround themselves with sycophants and incompetents.

Too many people, conservatives especially, have put their head in the sand regarding number 1.

  14. Personally I kinda feel like the COUP ATTEMPT, rather than just accepting an election loss, was the unacceptable line. How about the threat of suspending the Constitution, or jailing political opponents? I’m glad The Times is finally pissed off! 😃

  15. No, he hasn’t. And the times will run three editorials about how the Springfield thing is a reflection of “the real America” by next week.

  16. Its still both infuriating and mind boggling that he’s allowed to participate in the electoral process.

We as a country should be ashamed of it. We should be fixing that glaring gap in national security and social propriety immediately.

  17. Yet he will still not see any consequences. Political, reputational, financial or legal.

The fact that Trump monopolized the GOP, created a cult of personality and has by definition rigged the judiciary in his favor is not something America can move on from. Even if Trump loses in November. Even when Trump eventually passes away. Even after all Jan6 court cases have resulted in verdicts.

The fundamentals of the USA are rotten. Dozens of millions of Americans are irreparably cooked. The best thing that can come out of the current political animosity is a cautionary tale for other countries to never become a false dichotomy of a blue wrestler in one corner facing a red wrestler in the other corner.

Canadian here. This bullshit is getting exhasuting for the entire planet. Vote this fucking clown into oblivion in November, for all of us.

  19. There are no lines, and there is no bottom of the barrel

Was it when he and his 2016 campaign collaborated with Russia against Hillary and publicly asked them to hack her emails – to which his campaign manager and multiple of his staffers went to jail (by Trump’s own DOJ)?

Was it when he celebrated Nazis marching in Charlottesville?

Was it when he hired his 30 something son in law with 0 experience and made him head of veterans affairs, peace in the middle east, and head diplomat to around a dozen countries including Saudi Arabia, China, and Mexico of which said countries Jared personally gained billions of dollars from?

Was it Kidnapping children from immigrants and holding them in cages in a desert then losing records of their families so they could never be returned?

Was it so poorly handling covid through spreading misinformation, fear, and politicalization of science and vaccines that the US had 20% more deaths per capita then any other industrialized world – directly connected to the deaths of 100’s of thousands USA citizens and via his politicalization of vaccines possibly millions more in the years to come?

Was it when Trump was listed as the unnamed co-conspirator in federal voter fraud charges of his own personal attorney, Michael Cohen (who plead guilty and presented irrefutable proof that he acted under Trump’s direction clearly showing Trump’s involvement in these crimes), from Trump’s own DOJ?

Was it when he (all recorded) extorted a foreign government to create false evidence of a crime against an upcoming political opponent to which military whistleblowers stepped forward leading to an impeachment of Trump?

Was it when he created 60+ false cases of voter fraud in order to commit voter fraud/subversion and try to steal the 2020 presidential election via these fake cases and also creating dozens of fraudulent electors (all well documented)- to which multiple of his attorneys are now in jail for and that he is facing multiple federal charges in upcoming cases for?

Was it inciting a violent mob to attack congress and delay/obstruct the certification of an election result he was trying to steal with a fake federal elector scheme, to which he has current federal cases against him for?

There are literally dozens of more scandals that I didn’t list that would have ruined and ultimately imprisoned any other Politician that he has, for the time being, gotten away with… There is nothing he won’t do and no bottom he won’t sink to because we simply continually let him.

  20. Trump crosses unacceptable lines every day, yet he’s still running even with the most qualified candidate in decades. Half of America wants a moral Hiroshima for their president, who will represent their racism, hatred, twisted religion, and joy of destruction.

  21. Trump has done lots of shitty things, but the truly unacceptable line he crossed was trying to mount an insurrection. How the US constituency let him come back from that one, I will never understand. That *should* be one of those “you either win or die” gambles.
