Got to make room for people that offend Chairman Starmers doctrine

Unless I’m thinking about another case, isn’t he Belgian? Surely he should be released and just placed on a plane to Brussels?

“Machete thug”
Just to clarify for people who don’t read: He sold machetes and that’s what he went down for. Honestly if anyone was let out early that guy is probably one of the better options.

I thought they weren’t releasing people convicted of violent crimes.

Its just sad what this country has become. The rest of the world isnt like this.
There is a spectrum, on one side you have the extreme of many middle eastern countries with lashings, hand removals, stoning etc. However we are the other extreme, the pathetically weak end.
Somewhere in the middle is where we need to be.
You know a country where if you paralysed a baby in an intentional attack you don’t get to ever be free in this country again until you are perhaps too old an demented to pose a risk to anyone again. I think that is fair, I think that offers the very necessary element of retribution and also keeps all other kids safe from that sort of person.
I hate what we are becoming. I hate the pathetic excuses and justifications we dish out for what are evil acts.
I cant help but think we need two kinds of sentence. One is for criminals that need rehabilitation, these are drug addicts, thieves, burglars and fraudsters. They have never physically hurt anyone and can change their lives as they made poor choices.
Then there are the others, people who rape, people who abuse kids, people who murder etc. These people dont deserve rehabilitation. They just need to be removed for the greater good, this doesnt mean we need the death penalty they just cant be free.

Adam Andrews, 37, is also due to be released following his sentencing to three years in March. The brute abused a baby boy in 2018 and left helpless child blind and paralysed.
I think that pathetic sentence is the bigger issue, not if they serve 40 or 50% of it

I still can’t believe starmer just let them out like that ☠️

The machete one isn’t really being ‘freed’ though. It’s more transfer to immigration holding to be deported. His family were in the paper in the huff because he was told he wouldn’t but apparently now is being deported

Is there any possible alternatives to releasing all these violent offenders early?
I genuinely don’t know how you can now not believe that those in power are complicit in innocent people being victimised.
Doing that to a baby and you get 3 years?
The CPS, sentencing council, the judiciary, the police are all as guilty, if not more, of the victimisation of his next victim – as he is.

Don’t some of you get tired of letting the media pull on your nose ring and lead you from one idea to the next.

Lots of posts on here about how this shouldn’t be happening. Totally agree, but the difference from being let out at 40% of tariff vs 50% ain’t much. And this problem has been brewing for 2yrs: the last Govt didn’t grasp the nettle in part because of the responses here: voters don’t want to see this, it doesn’t sit well with them. But Govt is often about making difficult and unpopular choices for the long term good of the country. Believe me, if we hadn’t (frankly) slightly reduced the release date, we truly would be fucked. It’s grim, but it’s necessary.

Crime is not a complex phenomenon.
It’s just the obvious result of the blatant refusal by the state to do something about the tiny minority of the population [that](https://x.com/scientific_bird/status/1834253636479893879?s=46) actually [commits](https://x.com/scientific_bird/status/1833980068881990119?s=46) effectively [all](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3969807/) crime.
