Problem is it could only be two things…theft by employee or computer error. Unfortunately someone working in a rural post office wouldn’t necessary have the “know how” to delve any deeper, and if the employers don’t want to investigate, you are stuffed

There were so many occasions when the Post Office could have picked up on this, but refused to see the problem.

Senior figures in the Post Office knew damn well that the problem wasn’t with the subpostmasters.
Before the Horizon system was introduced, you could count on one hand the number of subpostmasters or employees prosecuted for any wrongdoing. This figure jumped dramatically after its introduction.
This could only mean a problem with the Horizon system, or an issue with the Post Office’s vetting process. *At no time did the Post Office look into the vetting process*, to determine if they were allowing dishonest people to become subpostmasters.
They didn’t look into it because knew what was likely causing the sudden increase in subpostmasters being prosecuted for theft, fraud, and/or false accounting. It wasn’t the honesty of the subpostmasters, but the integrity of the Horizon system that was questionable.

And now Premier Inn rolled a new system that works like sh*t for their employees. Guest who is in charge of introducing this crap? He was on the board during the horizon scandal. So many mistakes and bugs…

The thing is, everyone knew it was the computer system very early on, Private Eye, to their eternal credit, have been highlighting this evil for literally decades, even I knew about it and I’m not particularly intelligent or well read.
So when Paula and the other rats say ‘ we didn’t realize what was happening ‘ people need to understand they are lying. They knew perfectly well they were framing and locking up innocent people, it would just have been a bit embarrassing for them to admit, so they continued to lie, and they would have gotten away with it if not for a few VERY persistent heroes.
The whole thing stinks, and honestly, some of Post Office top brass and their legal advisors should be looking at years of jail time for their perjury, people served time in jail and some ended up taking their own lives due to this disgusting episode. I don’t know how these people sleep at night
