Well that’s one small victory for democracy. Still pissed after NC ruling to remove RFK from the ballots after they’ve been printed days before they were to be mailed and delaying the early vote. Such BS. Especially after he litigated his way onto the ballot in the first place since he didn’t qualify.

This is absolutely infuriating and reminiscent of the 1950/1960s era of Jim Crow and voter suppression.
So the party that is for freedom, liberty, and small government is now trying their level best to suppress votes using the power of government.

I would think college campuses are some of the more densely populated areas where people actually live. The fact that they don’t want polling locations there speaks volumes.

This just doesn’t seem logical, colleges/schools are great polling locations just from a logistics point of view. I assume Republicans support easy access to voting centers, being that they’re the party of freedom and patriotism, so I look forward to hearing about the alternative locations they propose should this go through.

Remember this when people say “Oh, they can’t stop young people from voting because of the 26th Amendment”. The GOP can’t explicitly limit voting to above X age, so instead they use methods like this that disproportionately just *happen* to affect the demographic they don’t want voting.

If state officials are going to make it hard to vote, Biden can make it hard for state officials to do certain things they like, like file flight paths with the FAA. Biden can order that we give extra customs scrutiny to imports entering Texas. And he can’t be prosecuted for it.

For those like me, who wonder what bogus reason the GOP came up with to justify this move, they claim that these polling sites have low turnout and they are just trying to save the government money. I wonder if we found some low turnout polling sites in dark red areas if they’d try to get those removed as well.

There is a non-zero chance Texas goes blue this year. It probably won’t happen, but it’s not the long shot some people think it is.
Both Harris and Walz are gun owners, Walz coached high school football. That goes a long way before you even get into trumps apparent weakness. And JD Vance has NOT gone over well in Texas even with his own party.

The very idea that you could be removing/changing polling sites for any non-emergency reason a mere two months before a huge election should really be a non-starter for any reasonable judge/politician/etc.
Same with clearing out voter rolls, or suspending peoples’ registrations, and stuff like that. There are certainly times/situations where doing those sorts of tasks can be appropriate and even necessary to maintain the election infrastructure, but even if it wasn’t intentional, making changes like these so close to a major election is absolutely bound to create confusion and make it harder for people to vote.
Now obviously for these assholes down in Texas, that’s the whole point. But even if it wasn’t, the very idea of making changes this close to the election would be foolish. Which is just another reason why you can safely infer that it’s being done in bad faith.

In 2020, Biden edged out Trump by ~1800 votes; the first Democrat to win the county since LBJ. The Republican leaders of Tarrant County are terrified that their county is turning blue and will do everything they can to stop it. The only way they will keep the county red is by suppressing the vote, especially the youth vote. Texas is not as Republican as people think it is.

Have a plan to vote. Check your registration. Know where your polling station is. If you are voting by mail read all the instructions and use a drop box or send them early. Vote early if you can. If you expect lines bring water and clothing fit for the weather. Encourage friends and family to register and vote. Kamala Harris will need the support of elected federal, state, and local officials to get things done. Pay attention to down ballot races. Kamala Harris will need more than two years of congress to keep getting things done so we ALL need to keep voting. Elected and appointed Republicans are not trying in any way to improve the life of the poor and middle class. We need to keep voting out republicans every chance we get, every year. Protecting the rights of every American. Building our infrastructure for the future. Creating manufacturing jobs to build a stronger middle class. Improving Social Security not ending it. Supporting workers and unions. Expanding Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. Addressing the climate crisis. are just some of the reasons to vote for the democrats.
**GET OUT AND VOTE AND KEEP VOTING.**
Off year and midterm elections are a good chance to flip so called red seats if we all just pay attention and show up. Remember democracy is not one and done. Keep voting in all elections and primaries every year. We vote out republicans and primary out uncooperative democrats.
