I absolutely cannot wait for this one. Vance is an arrogant little snip of a man-child who is about to run headlong into Tim Walz who will swat him like an annoying fly. Just let Vance talk at length. We need to hear ALL his opinions about women, cats, and democracy.

  2. Vance is a despicable, soulless human being, yes.

But he’s a lot sharper than Trump.

This is NOT going to be a cakewalk for Walz.

  3. ApprehensiveTrip3111 on

Walz needs to nail him with “You have always known and still believe that Trump is an unqualified Buffon.”

  4. I’m optimistic. Vance is actually not stupid, and he knows how to debate in the true sense of the word. But political debates haven’t been actual debates in decades, and instead they’re all about the vibe. And Vance’s vibe is as creepy and disturbing as Walz’s is wholesome and pleasant.

  5. MAGA world is 100% certain that JD will win this debate because “debating is his strong point” and refuse to acknowledge how fucking awkward and weird this dude is. Walz shouldn’t have any problems running circles around this weirdo in a debate.

  6. I’d love to believe this to be true. But Trump got obliterated because he was kind of dumb, easily triggered, lies a lot and absolutely lost his charm and confidence.

Vance is not charming and will lie a lot but I do feel like he will stick to his creepy ass message.

But now that I think about it, maybe that will be the goal of Walz, let Vance be a massive creep that will turn off normal people further.

  7. Vance is more like Trump 2016. He’s weird and abnormal, but way more put together and less ranty.

I guarantee that Vance can dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge to a measured draw or a narrow loss to Walz. You don’t succeed as much as he has without some large talent for that.

I will admit, I was a little nervous for Kamala before the debate with dump. However I have zero worries about Walz sweeping the floor with jd.

  9. The only way Walz could lose is if he treats Vance like the caricature he is from the onset. So long as he approaches him respectfully and saves the loveable clapback for the appropriate moments, this is in the bag. They represent two vastly different interpretations of masculinity, and Walz should double down on being compassionate, understanding, and protective of the vulnerable. Vance has to impress his 4chan buddies, so it’s just a matter of time before he says some toxic alpha nazi shit, then Walz can pounce. I think the right approach may be to affirm Vance publicly for his anti-trump comments and stand in as the Dad he needed when he was in his drag phase. *It’s ok Vance, you can stop pretending to be a tough guy, we all know you wanna curl up on the couch with your wig and some macaroons to watch Batman Returns, and that’s ok, just drop the patriarchal nazi shit.*

  10. Walz spent years in the guard where some of the best dumbass shit talkers in the nations reside.

Then he spent years teaching in high school where the next tier of dumbass shit talked reside.

Vance is stepping into the ring with a dude with a record of like 369-4 in handling dumbasses.

It’s going to be a rough ride.

  11. Not to sound like I’m dooming but it probably won’t be as dramatic

Vance isn’t an idiot like trump. More an arrogant weirdo so walz will probably come off as Joe Everyman and sofa king just as a weirdo

Hope walz offers to teach him how to order donuts though

  12. It won’t be as fun because Vance won’t say that he has “concepts of a plan” or “they’re eating the dogs!” like other statements that Trump made.

  13. Do. Not. Take. Vance. Lightly. He’s most definitely a little worm, but he’s not nearly as stupid and unhinged as Trump.

This isn’t the layup the comments think it is.

  14. I’m hopeful that Walz will do well and the chasm between voters’ favorability ratings for the two of them bodes well, but perhaps worth noting that when he was being vetted for VP, Walz candidly told Harris that he was not a good debater.

    https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/06/politics/tim-walz-inside-harris-vp-pick/index.html

“The Minnesota governor was upfront about his vulnerabilities, noting he wasn’t from a swing state or a household name. He also said he was a bad debater.”

  15. Walz has said of himself that he’s not all that great of a debater, but I have faith that if nothing else, he’ll come across as more honest and likable than Vance. Walz also has the advantage of having a damn good person at the top of the ticket to support and tout, whereas Vance has to support and tout Trump, someone he called “American Hitler” at one point.

Yeah, I’m not too worried. Both of them have a job to do to prove that the TICKET they’re on is the best one for America. I don’t see how Vance does that. He’s already so unpopular as it is. He’s going to have his own words used against him just like Trump did.

Walz has worked as an educator, he is used to dealing with children who may throw a tantrum.

Found out just how quick educators are when we were away with my ILs recently, my FIL is a teacher and has been as long as I’ve been alive and he is just so quick with the comebacks, my kids didn’t stand a chance lol

  17. JD Vance is a part of the white nationalist movement, project 2025, and part of Peter Thule payroll . It will be clear and evident by his debate responses on the issues and he’s a huge liability to the ticket besides the Orange turd.

Walz is going to do a great job of giving no nonsense answers that anyone could get behind. He’s genuine and you can trust him to do the right thing. .

  18. Voters need to realize there’s a statistically significant chance that JD Vance could become president if Trump is elected and vote accordingly. I think Walz will make this clear during the debate.

  19. JD Vance is gonna cry – but Walz is so lovely and neighborly, he’d just give him a big ol’ Dad Hug about it. Probably just what that miserable weirdo needs!

  20. Vance isn’t Trump, he’ll do debate prep. It’s not going to be a walk in the park.

However, he wrote the forward for Project 2025, it’s pretty easy and fair to tie it to him.

  21. He is going to figuratively grab him like a football and dropkick him through the goalposts of life.

  22. Surprised that Vance isn’t towing the “no more debates” line. I thought VPs and assistant coaches don’t matter.

  23. Hope Tim Walz will give a shout-out to President Jimmy Carter for turning 100 years old that day. He will be able to vote for Kamala 15 days from then.

  24. Vance will take debate prep seriously, that I have no doubt about. But he also has ZERO charisma. His arrogant incel speak next to Coach Walz will be a stark contrast.

  25. Kamala was honestly pretty restrained with Trump. She could’ve utterly *eviscerated* him but played it more conservatively for obvious reasons. Walz on the other hand has more liberties as VP. This is gonna be an absolute bloodbath.

  26. Wonderful_Garbage229 on

I’ve been incredibly impressed by Walz. I am, however, concerned about this debate. As odious as he is, Vance is a smart guy and more articulate than is Trump. I fear he will be more effective in going after Harris than Trump was. For one thing, I don’t think Vance will be easily baited into lunacy or thrown off message. I think Walz will come off as way more likable and genuine. But I don’t think this is gonna be a “wipe the floor with him” moment for Walz the way it was for Harris.

  27. Has Walz ever done a debate? I think he will do fine but let’s not assume a high skill level.

  28. I predict Vance will bring up Walz’s DUI. It’s probably his only attack card and it will probably go over like a wet fart.
