I recently found out through a DNA test that I am Hamshen Armenian and not really Turkish genetically speaking. So I got this today 🙂

The Hamshenis in Turkey are a sadly linguistically assimilated and by force islamicized ethnic minority in Turkey. Most of them identify as Turks and deny their Armenian roots. Some Hamshenis in Turkey could keep their western Armenian dialect alive. This group lives in Artvin province.

Some Hamshenis migrated to Georgia and Russia and other parts of the world long ago and still speak Armenian today and are Christians.

PS: The tattoo artist was Azerbaijani. I did not tell him the meaning of the tattoo 😅
