This is old news, but it is often ignored by the traditional media and even more by the human spaceflight haters, the interesting thing is that there is technology to create a permanent magnet of 2 Teslas. Of course, it is not just about putting a magnet on the L1 Lagrange Point just like that, this will need a attitude control system.

Sure, right after we reverse global warming here on earth. For some reason I believe that fixing earth should be easier than making mars livable, so that should be the priority.

This is old news. However I believe that Blue Origin is supposed to send a positive to Mars real soon. The probe is going to study Mar’s magnetic field. Right now we don’t know for sure if restoring Mar’s magnetic field would allow it to retain its atmosphere and raise the surface temperature by doing so. I hope this next probe to Mars will answer some of those questions.

We need a science breakthrough. Something to power it. Maybe somehow harness the suns charged particles or solar wind. Like giant floating space rods that will charge up and release some sort of static charge. I think nasa actually had a successful test but the tether snapped. Maybe now with modern materials we could make another?
If only we had funding…
