  1. Calling it a confrontation is some wishy-washy both sides bullshit.

It was a fucking terrorist attack.

  2. > “For at least 90 minutes, defendants terrorized and menaced the driver and passengers,” the lawsuit alleges. “They played a madcap game of highway ‘chicken’ coming within three to four inches of the bus. They tried to run the bus off the road.”
    >
    > The highway confrontation prompted an FBI investigation, which led then-President Trump to declare that in his opinion, “these patriots did nothing wrong.”

I remember this happening and am, frankly, stunned it’s only now going to trial. Seems like his cult is made up of a significant chunk of domestic terrorists willing to commit violence for political ends (terrorism) from this to January Sixth and on. All egged on by the guy the GQP has sworn allegiance to.

  3. this is touched on in the article, the city of San Marcos already settled with the folks that got attacked in that bus.

    # San Marcos forced to pay $175,000 to Wendy Davis, other Democrats after “Trump Train” incident

    >Four people on a Biden campaign bus accused police of ignoring requests for help as they drove on Interstate 35 surrounded by Trump supporters. They alleged that officers “joked about the victims and their distress.” A second lawsuit related to the incident remains pending.

    >Earlier this year, a federal judge sanctioned San Marcos for failing to preserve his phone and email records related to the incident. The plaintiffs had asked the judge to sanction the city for failing to preserve evidence from three people who no longer work for the city.

    >A magistrate judge ruled the city should’ve preserved the email account and cellphone for Cole Stapp, a former city deputy marshal and son of Chase Stapp who was named in the lawsuit, after he was served with a subpoena to testify. But the judge ultimately ruled that while the city was negligent, there was no evidence city officials did not maintain those records in “bad faith.”

    >In court documents, the city said the only evidence lost came from Cole Stapp’s deposition, where he described how he learned the campaign bus would be in San Marcos on Oct. 30, 2020.

two of the eight trump supporters who participated in this attack have also already settled. the case should be pretty strong against the remaining 6.

This is the area where live and I’m not surprised it happened. Glad they’re actually doing something about it.

  5. Scary that a group of Trump supporters terrorized a bus of Biden supporters like that.

According to the article, Trump later said that his supporters did nothing wrong.

I can’t believe that people are seriously considering voting for a Presidential candidate who condones intimidation of their opponents supporters.

Take them all down. The Party of Freedom and “law and order” is a cult of oppressive weirdos

  7. Four years.

We really have to promote a court system that can get things done before the people involved die of old age.

Like, for example, when will E. Jean Carol get her money?

  8. How in the holy fuck is this just now making it to trial?

In the sea of other crap we’ve had to endure over the last four years, I forgot this even existed, and now am incensed once again.

  9. I did not think anything was going to happen to those people. Glad someone is doing something.

  10. Imagine the right wing endlessly moaning if even 1 Democrat acted like this toward any Trump campaign bus. We’d never ever ever hear the end of it.

  11. It was domestic terrorism over political party lines, and attempted vehicular manslaughter.

Take the fucking kiddie gloves off already.

  12. I don’t know if my heart will ever be big enough to hold the hatred I have for MAGA and their abhorrent leader

  13. ThrowingChicken on

The guy involved in the actual crash is a known asshole around here, and had driven through a BLM protest just a month before.

  14. We desperately need a law that sets priorities on any crimes that involve voter intimidation, election interference, violent protest related to elections etc etc.

The fact that we are one entire presidential election from that voter intimidation event and we haven’t even gone to trial yet is astounding.
