If it’s going to be bad when people are children, imagine what it’s going to be like when they are adults. These kids might be affected by their experience all their lives.

My son was born in the second Lockdown. He has come out of it well. Other children not so much. So many seem completely unable to socialise with kids or adults. You go to a park and so many just can not communicate or play with others.
I don’t know how we fix this.

The impact of shit parenting during covid lockdowns should be the title.
Plenty of kids are flourishing at school, whilst others are way behind the curve. Easy to spot the kids that have had the time and effort put in and the ones who have been left to fend for themselves and are pretty much feral.

It’s all about the parenting the children received at home. There is no excuse for bad parenting. People seem to forget that schools for in tandem with parents not for them.

I’m sorry, what? How does a lockdown prevent you from teaching your child to wipe their own arse? I seriously wonder how much “covid impact” is actually a cover for bad parenting and underfunded schools.

people always assume its lockdowns, but i dont see why it cant be simply the consequences of covid micro clotting… we might just have to accept future generations are going to be more stupid … a bit like when we had lead in petrol.

It’s definitely a complex issue. If we look at why kids are struggling to socialise is it because the government closed down the country for two years, or is it because these kids are being raised glued to an iPad? I do think parents who shove these devices in front of their kids are actually mentally crippling them, but the government should do more to restrict kids from using these devices. I think parents need to be more responsible for their kids and not just think the education system will raise them. Parents these days opt into the easy parenting method because they work full time and life is “hard”.

My friend made a very good point in saying “ people aren’t having enough kids, for his son’s primary school to have large number of kids in each and every year group”. As I asked if they had large class room sizes in son’s catholic school.
