    >”I am convinced that the answer to it is delivery in government.”

This is the same guy who is constantly saying how bad things are and will be for the forceable future?

He’s literally said he’s OK being unpopular.

    > Sir Keir Starmer has said he is worried about the rise of the far-right, warning that it offers “the snake oil of the easy answer.” The prime minister told Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday, 8 September: “We can see what is happening in Germany with the recent election, see what is happening in France and other countries.

Then he best come up with a plan to significantly reduce immigration, both legal and illegal, including ‘asylum seekers’ from MENA countries.

    > “We can see what is happening in Germany with the recent election, see what is happening in France and other countries.
“I am convinced that the answer to it is delivery in government.”

If neither the Tories, French nor German centrists managed to stop the far right from rising, then why does he think Labour is any different, given that he broadly subscribes to their political and fiscal views too?

Net migration is going to continue at 700,000 a year and Labour are going to be dismayed when they’re no longer in government after the next election

Despite the messaging being a tad gloomy It’s quite refreshing having a prime minister who is honest with us tbh, after years of sado-populism from Boris onwards, as much as the content of what he’s saying (which is the results of the past 14 years) and the hard decisions (avoided by the Tories for years, who were just offering us tax breaks from a magic money tree) aren’t great I do respect he’s actually saying it in the first place, a prime minister with integrity making hard decisions and explaining them (not lying and then having the Mail/Murdoch media spread propaganda) is something we haven’t had for a while, hence the situation we’re in

I can see Conservative and Reform taking lumps out of each other in their little post truth, polarizing world and Labour just ticking along getting the votes of people who pay attention to politics/the detail/see through the miss information

History has shown time and time again that it’s exactly the inane centrist liberalism that Labour peddles which gives rise to the far right – so it’s hard to take Starmer seriously on this; he’s a living, breathing embodiment of the problem.

I know if you mention the Nazis you lose the argument, but we’re talking about the hard right so here goes.

    https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/journal-of-economic-history/article/austerity-and-the-rise-of-the-nazi-party/7FB1BC0E727F47DC790A23D2A4B70961

These guys found that at a granular level the Nazis found success negative to how deep the austerity was city by city and region by region.

Mix into that mass immigration and the disarray which is our asylum system and immigration system more generally, and you have the perfect storm. The system’s a total joke. You can pretend to be gay, fake fleeing domestic abuse, or say you’ve converted to Christianity and that means you can stay – even if you’re a dangerous criminal.

Note: immigrants and immigration are different, albeit linked, things. Immigrants, like any group of people, can be saints or total bellends or for the most part average folk trying to get on. Don’t be a dupe to these fascist agitators and pick on a random immigrant who has precisely zero responsibility for UK public policy on immigration.

  8. Unfortunately those who support the far-right never see that their plans are simply unworkable.

  9. Why does starmer love a buzz word? Seems like snake oil salesman is this months flavour. Also see, NHS is in my dna, father was a toolmaker. He definitely made a tool.

  10. The whole world is turning “far right.”

This isn’t actually happening, though. It’s people having enough.

  11. AnakinDislikesSand on

People are going to vote for the party who isn’t shying away from addressing these immigration problems, which whether you like it or not, is currently the Reform party. Stop dancing around the subject and do something Kier.

  12. “Don’t listen to the far right, they only offer easy answers. Now if you excuse me I’m off to Tax the Rich and Smash the Gangs”

  13. SittingBull1988 on

It is almost as if decades of governments being elected on platforms of lowering immigration and not delivering has lead people to look elsewhere…

  14. CardiffCity1234 on

Jesus the far right have popped up again in here after their mysterious two week disappearance 5 weeks ago.

  15. Never read any threads on this sub if it includes immigration, and labour because it’s going to be a right wing cesspit echo chamber

  16. ApprehensiveShame363 on

    God this bloke is insufferable.

Yes of course they are snake oil salesman, but unless you fix things people will turn to them in ever greater numbers.

So fix things, and stop fucking whining!!!

Well then he better offer hope and a viable alternative to what the country had for the last 14 years.

As bad as the Tories were and they did a terrible job governing the country, just saying the Tories ruined the country (whilst true) isn’t exactly offering hope/solution.

Austerity 2.0 isn’t what the country needs.

  18. How strange, every single country dealing with it is becoming increasingly far-right. The reason couldn’t possibly be the sole issue they’re all complaining about. No, its the populace who’s wrong. In all instances lol.

Nah we’ll just remove the Pensioners Winter fund instead lmfao. How many years of different governments not listening to them before they see the Snake Oil as the preferable alternative? You are the cause of the Alt-Right…

  19. Then he had better do something otherwise it looks like projection. Let’s face it, his policies are pretty much snake oil.

  20. Important-Guidance22 on

A lot of right wing solutions aren’t easy, and people realise it. Any choose has pros and cons. There is some snake oil, but a minority. Calling a major part of the right with uninformed/snake oil isn’t going to help anything.

  21. bluecheese2040 on

We need to worry about the snake oil sold by mainstream parties. If they actually did what they promised the far left and right would have no oxygen to breath.

  22. popularpragmatism on

Yes, another 4 years of austerity, while the political class enjoy the fruits of other people’s labour & unregulated migration into areas they don’t live in is just what the country needs.

Set up a migrant camp in Richmond or Hampstead & things will soon change

  23. charlie_cupcakes on

Guys don’t mention migration you will be called far right, I hate this guy he ain’t listening to the people of the country from any side of politics and wonders why every fucker dislikes him. Haven’t heard a good thing said about him and even the left wants him out.

  24. RepresentativeTwo328 on

How would those sent to Rwanda be processed back to their own countries and if it was a reasonable manner of repatriation why can’t the same system be used in the UK. Maybe all European nations should send their illegals there if Rwanda had the answer.

  25. Can anyone remember the rise of the National Socialist Party in Germany? They left quite a noticeable stain in history.

Well, it turned out they WERE the far right.

  26. So last week Starmer was ‘far right’ for starting processing and deporting failed claims and now this week he’s ‘far left’ for deporting failed claims? Well if it stops the woke folk parroting the ‘left want open borders’ narrative pushed by the media we’re going in the right direction.
