  1. So let me bless you guys with the funniest thing I have ever, ever seen. You will recall, upon the Queen’s death, initially all the electronic adverts were set to just pay tribute to her. After a few days or so, they started rotating these tributes with the normal adverts, one after the other. This meant I was getting the bus to work one day and say a tribute to our dear departed monarch turn into an advert for a Pot Noodle.

If she’d have survived to today she’d have beaten the Sun King in being the longest reigning monarch in all of history.

I get people’s hate for the royal family, but if nothing else she at least was a uniquely fascinating person from a historical perspective. The rest of the royals can do one for all I care, but I was quite fond of Liz, she felt like an important figurehead for the country. She was a source of inspiration for people from World War 2 all the way through to Covid.

I really did think it was her keeping the British union together. Now it feels like the union may come apart with the Home nations going their own way.

  4. My grandma also died two years ago this week but you don’t see me bleating on about it. Miss you granny

  5. I would never try to dictate how someone should feel or disregard how they do. But, what I will say is that I believe our queen was genuinely and generally a good person. She didn’t choose her role or station, it was imposed upon her. And she saw it as her duty to carry it out to the best of her abilities. Regardless of what she would have wished to do or her own desires for her own life. This was what was required of her. So, she put aside her own wishes for her life and took on the responsibilities and duties that were asked of her. Ok, so, it probably wasn’t all bad, but you find me people that are prepared to live their life to be as dutiful in the service of others. Not only that, but to do it so graciously, and with such decorum. There are very few people in the world that would have been able to do that. I know I couldn’t

Still feels weird, like no matter your opinions on the monarchy and her she was like an institution of the country. My grandad lived his entire life with her as queen, born a few months after she became queen and died a year before she did. She was basically the symbol of Britain.
