“Regional peace, security and stability is not merely a preference, but a pillar of our national security. Any threat from North, South, East, or West to territorial integrity of our neighbors or redrawing of boundaries is totally unacceptable and a red line for Iran.” – Iran FM Seyed Abbas Araghchi

  1. Any_Yoghurt_4038 on

something is brewing. Iran and US have the unprecedented chance to partner on this matter. It’s up to our diplomates to lead them to that path.

  2. With Trump hopefully out of the picture soon, Armenia desperately needs Iran to have closer ties to the west and EU. Israel will try all it can to hinder efforts, like it always does, but hopefully it can be done while Russia and Iran seemingly have different priorities regarding the Caucas’.

  3. Noticeably, Iran is trying to navigate this as smoothly as possible by blaming everything happening on Russia. And not Azerbaijan.

Since it might be afraid to lose Azerbaijan again. And considers Russia the main instigator. Since Azerbaijan alone will not be able to do anything. And Turkey will not interfere directly without losing its ties with Iran. As well as being a target of a smear campaign that would expose them for still exporting everything to Israel.

And even collaborating with Turkey to catch Palestinian operatives.

Russia is never going to give Iran any really benefits. It’s a traitor, we saw how easily they turned their backs on Armenia, they deactivated defense systems in Syria so Israel could attack, they never sold the promised jet fighter aircraft to Iran as promised

  5. All of this can be avoided if Baku was realistic.

No country really provides transport for free, let alone a “corridor,” which is essentially one country earmarking land for another, almost like an embassy.

If Baku really wanted progress, they would be more pragmatic. Either exchange the Z corridor for the Lachin corridor with an autonomous NK, or ask for transport access for a fee under Armenian law.

Since they ethnically cleansed NK, the 2nd is their only current option.

Countries don’t give others something for nothing. At this point, the pressing of the Z corridor is just Baku appeasing Moscow and Alyiev overestimating his strength on the world stage.
