  1. Judge for yourself

Q: What specific legislation will you commit to to make child care affordable?

Trump: Well, I would do that and we’re sitting down, you know, I was, somebody, we had Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka… But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about that because the child care is, child care couldn’t, you know, there’s something you have to have it in this country, you have to have it… I want to stay with child care… So we’ll take care of it. Thank you

    WTF.

  2. Finally someone outside of Meidastouch and the Harris campaign are covering this.

An absolute disaster for Trump. Harris could literally just run ads that just have him talking and nothing else. Use clips from this speech and others. Poke a massive hole in the “strong and mighty” angle that MAGA likes to give him.

That absolutely would peel off some apolitical/independent voters.

I mean, he does. Literally all the time.

  4. Not sure if this is better or worse than Vance’s suggestion yesterday that parents just have their grandparents watch the kids.

He was asked about child care during his Mar a Lago “press conference” a few weeks ago and gave an equally unrelated and rambling answer:

We gave a tremendous and tremendous for child care and all of that. No, our tax — our tax cuts, which are the biggest in history, our tax cuts are coming due, as you know very soon. And if the Democrats don’t renew them or make it impossible to renew, because it’s pretty close in terms of vote, if they don’t renew them, it’s the equivalent of having a four times tax increase from what you have right now. And it’ll destroy the economy.

I think they’re under tremendous pressure to do it. I’ve never seen — you know, all my life, I grow up and I watch politics, and I used to be on the other side of politics then I run for office. But in all the years of studying politics, I’ve never seen people get elected by saying, we’re going to give you a tax increase.

These guys get up — think of it. We’re going to give you no security. We’re going to give you a weak military. We’re going to give you no walls, no borders, no anything. We’re going to — all these things they’re doing.

I mean, the transgender, the transgender became such a big thing. But they do all of these things. But they always say, “We’re going to give you a tax increase.” I never heard anybody campaign on a tax increase. A politician has always said, “I will cut taxes.

I’ll give you one example. Social Security, they’re going to destroy Social Security. I am going to leave Social Security. I’m not raising the years. I’m not raising the age. I will be saving Social Security. And I’m going to work it out that there’s no tax on Social Security for seniors.

I’m also doing no tax on tips. No tax on tips. So, waiters, waitresses, caddies, people that drive cars, people that get tips who have been harassed by this government, we’re going to have no tax on tips. That’s a big thing.

I still laugh when a couple weeks ago Trump was part of a “man on the street” thing where some guy was asking cult members to ask Trump questions (who was on via remotely) and one guy said “I’ve got a family is six and groceries are to expensive for me. What will you do to lower groceries if you’re elected?”

Trumps exact response was “drill baby drill…”

I swear, he isn’t even listening. He’s just got something in his pea brain and spits out whether its apropos or not. Just a selfish POS.

  7. > Eventually, Trump seemed to suggest that the tariffs would boost economic growth and government revenue enough to make child care more affordable.

    > “Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including child care, that it’s going to take care,” Trump continued. “We’re going to have — I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country.”

    > Exactly how all of this was supposed help working parents find or pay for child care wasn’t clear, especially given widespread predictions from economists that Trump’s tariffs would actually lead to higher deficits and a weaker economy, as well as higher costs to families who would pay more for imported goods.

So he thinks tariffs would magically pay for child care?

  8. Just once, I want someone to ask him- on live TV- what he thinks of the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

  9. Something something dementia something something. I think it’s time to have the talk my republican friends. We did it with our candidate. Now it’s your turn. You have Vance. He is the natural one to take over and keep the money to campaign on. He is super likable and totally not weird.. he is your path to the white house…

In all seriousness. Trump needs help y’all. It’s time to have the tough talk

  10. Can you name subjects on which he does anything other than ramble incoherently?

Fucking his own daughter…..no that’s all I can come up with.

Well, I would do that. And we’re sitting down, you know, I was somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio and my daughter Ivanka was so, impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that because the childcare is childcare, couldn’t, you know, there’s something you have to have it. In this country, you have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers, compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not used to, but they’ll get used to it very quickly, and it’s not going to stop them from doing business with us, but they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including childcare, that it’s going to take care — we’re going to have — I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to say, with childcare, I want to stay with childcare. But those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I’m talking about, including growth, but growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just, that I just told you about. We’re going to be taking in trillions of dollars. And as much as childcare is talked about as being expensive, it’s relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we’ll be taking in. We’re going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people, and then we’ll worry about the rest of the world. Let’s help other people. But we’re going to take care of our country first. This is about America first. It’s about Make America great again. We have to do it because right now we’re a failing nation, so we’ll take care of it. Thank you. Very good question.

The fact that he’s so fuccin stupid yet he rose to the highest office in the nation is embarrassing and confusing

  13. “I remember when Melania’s son was breast feeding and I said, darling, your breasts, they are working so hard and you have to, but you can’t and do so I quickly asked Stormy Daniels How do you do it, women, you have to, it’s very important, but we must reduce caring for children. And Ivanka, who’s very beautiful, great breasts, she agrees.”

  14. They want the wife to stay at home.

Low child care costs encourage women to keep their jobs, and that’s a bad thing to people like JD Vance, Trump’s chosen second.

  15. To be clear, both he and JD Vance sounded like fools because they have no intention of even thinking about child care costs.
