Federal Judge Skeptical Of Trump’s Argument That Jan. 6 Case Should Be Postponed | “This court is not concerned with the electoral schedule,” Judge Tanya Chutkan said. “That’s nothing I’m going to consider.”

It’s true. If she did explicitly consider it, the court would be engaging in politics, not the application of the law.

  2. Lauro the lawyer

“You look rested, Mr. Lauro,” Chutkan said.

“Life was meaningless without seeing you,” Lauro replied.

“Enjoy it while it lasts,” Chutkan quipped.

Life may be like a box of chocolates, but this trial is going to be like a box of “October Surprises”.

  4. There’s nothing I love more than seeing reasonable people treat this unreasonable turd reasonably.

  5. The justice system moved way too slowly on Jan 6. America and the western worlds (now exposed) tenuous hold on peaceful transfer of power will pay dearly for that – unfathomably so if he wins but still permanent damage even if he loses. Good job, everyone

  6. “But it is VITALLY important, your Honor! If I WIN I plan to abuse justice and throw all the charges out, and if I LOSE I plan to flee the country!” ~Trump.

She has demonstrated more fairness and judicial foresight than the majority of the supreme court

It appears Judge Chutkan didn’t buy the Jack the Ripper defense: “Your honor, you can’t try me now. I have more murders to commit.”

  9. “We’ll Judge let me explain, I want it delayed because if I win then I’m going to pardon myself”
    -TFG probably

  10. I’m waiting for Dump to say screw the election I’m not going to jail and go full Leroy Jenkins.

We all have a right to have a reasonably quick trial. Why would Trump want to delay unless he is guilty?

  12. No court should be worrying about an election coming up. They sure don’t care if you or me commit crimes and have something important upcoming in our lives…

  13. How about this quip that nobody is reporting on…

Chutkan: I don’t agree there are strong arguments about this case

Defense: well Justice Thomas directed is to bring up these issues

Chutkan: …. Justice Thomas directed you?

    Defense: well, no he didn’t

  14. So long as she’s not specifically choosing dates to be inconvenient for political purposes I really don’t see the problem with her scheduling dates during this stretch of time. If Trump doesn’t like it, he should probably stop committing crimes.

  15. The traitor knows his only way of staying out of prison for his crimes is to pardon himself as USA president.

If he hadn’t used every delay tactic known to man, his cases could’ve been resolved by now. Ofc, he’d probably be in jail, but whatevs.

  17. >“What is the rush to judgment here?” Lauro (Trump’s ^(whiny) lawyer) complained.

    >Chutkan pointed out that Trump’s appeals had already consumed nine months. “This case has been pending for over a year. This case is hardly sprinting toward the finish line,” she said.

Right? At least one judge is calling him out on his usual delay delay delay shenanigans, even if little can be done.

  18. He wants to pardon himself if he wins the election. That’s why he wants to have the case postponed until after the election, which he won’t win. It’s time to face the music and go to jail for life!

  19. I think we should all step back and consider the insanity of asking to postpone a trial on election interference and an attempted coup because the schedule interferes with an upcoming election.

Trump has made a mockery of the US justice system and the Republican party.

  20. She’s right. If a major party nominates a criminal defendant, they have to deal with the consequences of that. You don’t get temporary immunity just by running for President.

  21. Appears skeptical? She flat out said the election won’t be part of her consideration.

I am glad someone is finally breaking the cycle of Trump’s bullshit excuse of election interference.

I love it. There are still decent judges out there that actually respect and follow the law and not some clowns claims of immunity that came from a ruling from a completely inexperienced federal “yes
    Trump” judge in FL.

Accountability. If anyone, a person that’s been in or plans to be in the highest position of power in the land should be held accountable for their misdeeds and improper actions.
