I’m pro-space in almost everything, but the push to spend billions to send humans to Mars just seems so stupid and irresponsible before working things out with a couple of decades supporting humans on the Moon. It’s an ongoing argument, I know, but I just don’t see why thoughtful space explorers are encouraging humanity to just leapfrog over that step. Makes no sense to me at all.

Mars is dumb. NASA has moon plans for 2026 already.

Good luck with that. Moon first is probably the only way we’re going to put boots on Red.

Mars Society is a group of amateurs with Mars delusions FYI, nothing official going on here.

NASA would not make a good Mars plan.
I *would* say “talk to SpaceX instead”, but they’re a bit too focused on the launch vehicles at the moment. Maybe in a few years, once Starship is flying regularly.
In the meantime, if you want something done properly, do it yourselves.

They real challenge would be getting congress to realistically fund a humans to Mars plan.

We shouldn’t be spending the money developing a plan when we’re so far out…

I don’t know what the big debate is all about. Anyone who wants to go to Mars can hop a ride on SpaceX.

What about creating a better Earth first, before running away?

Ain’t gonna happen in this century imho. Too risky, too expensive and simply
no foreseeable ROI.

Such a dumb idea.
Everything about mars is inhospitable.
Just fix shit here.
