It appeared in my twitter tl a video of the series in bulgarian and me and spanish people were like wtf. That’s a very very famous tv show in Spain. It looks a bit strange cause there are many mythic phrases and expressions from the series that don’t make much sense literally and the translation is possibly very strange or not as funny as in Spanish

Is the show very famous there too? What do you think about it? And is there anything that catches your attention or causes you a cultural shock?

  1. It’s been broadcasted here since 2013. There are enitre Facebook fan pages with thousands of people discussing the show. There were other Spanish comedy shows that were broadcasted here such as: “Aquí no hay quien viva” – “Щурите съседи”; “Gym Tony” – “Фитнес Тони”; “El pueblo” – “Селцето”; “Mis adorables vecinos” – “Моите мили съседи”.

  2. It is very popular and they still translate and broadcast the latest seasons. It actually has one of the best bulgarian dubs as well. Pretty sure that they convey accurately everything. I wouldn’t say that there were any actual culture shocks, although some people claim that all the shenanigans in it are very accurate to real life Spain.

I remember watching another Spanish sitcom when I was young, I think it was called Family Doctor or something like that.

  4. Been watching it for years, lol. No matter how many times they start broadcasting it all over again, I still love to watch it from time to time. I don’t know Spanish at all, but the translators have done an excellent job IMO – all the jokes make sense, and there are even a few Bulgarian references.

There are few Facebook communities, and we all love the show – I just think they should have ended it on Antonio’s wedding.
