    But AOC is 100% correct

Coming out of the woodworks every 4 years to make a presidential run without doing the work to make it a true grassroots campaign reeks of pompousness

Like I’ve heard Jill Stein’s name for years and have no idea what she really stands for ( or at least claims to)

  2. Jill “Russia Times” Stein is more likely a useful idiot than an actual, developed asset for the Kremlin. But she IS useful to them.

Just a reminder on Jill Stein:

Context: The event featuring Stein and Putin was a December 2015 gala in Moscow in celebration of the Russian state television channel RT’s tenth anniversary. The channel has been banned in several countries for spreading Russian propaganda since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

I’ve seen mask off Jill Stein “supporters” on twitter saying things like “there’s enough of us to make a difference in swing states” and it’s just very telling who is controlling all this. Certaintly not random innocent leftist Americans.

  5. Not that I necessarily disagree with AOC here, but I will point out that Stein is 100% correct that ranked-choice voting is needed and that opposing it is anti-democracy.

  6. AOC has been able to accomplish alot in her run in Congress. In that same time frame Jill Stein has accomplish nothing. The green party hasn’t grown at all.

  7. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.newsweek.com/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-blasts-predatory-jill-stein-green-party-2024-election-1947286) reduced by 92%. (I’m a bot)

    > In an Instagram story posted on Sunday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, blasted Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein as "Predatory" due to her multiple runs for the White House while struggling to grow the third party at the grassroots level.

    > Ocasio-Cortez accused Stein and the Green Party, which reached its current party status in 2001, for only putting its emphasis on presidential elections.

    > The reason for why Stein is on the ballot in some states and the Green Party is on in others is because of ballot access procedures.

  8. Had the left flank of the Democratic Party dealt with Stein in 2016 we might never had a Trump presidency.

  9. She’s just a distraction for voters who argue “bOtH SidES” while taking money from Putin.

  10. I agree with AOC. The green party isn’t a serious party with the goal of actually governing.

Yest FPTP voting system is an huge block to any third party but the level of support the green party has even at 3 to 4% is leverage they could use

The green party could walk up to the democratic party at any time and say that they will support their candidates for local, state, and federal elections (or even just on those specific levels) if they are willing to make room for some of their members to actually get elected granting them both a large public foot print, an increased level of funding, and actual experience in running. It’s what the libertarians have done in places with republicans.

Of course that requires them to *compromise* which I feel is the biggest hurdle. They would in their minds become complicit in things they don’t agree with. Now moral purity and the value of it in response to governing is a huge debate but if you aren’t able to or willing to form a coalition to get your goals even if you have to sacrifice others and by your own moral standards maybe get mud on your hands you can’t be considered a serious political entity.

This of course doesn’t even touch on the likely extra national funding Stein gets.

  11. 3rd parties exist solely to grab democratic voters and prevent a democratic win. It’s always ‘green party’ this or that, never an evangelical or true libertarian third party.

  12. Where’s the Green Party funding come from? It’s no surprise they’re still nothing more than Russian assets.

  13. I call her Jill 1% Stein to remind the “both-sides-are-bad” crowd that she really doesn’t have a base. As another commenter said, she hasn’t done the work to build support.

And the Green Party should be ashamed of themselves.

  14. TheMocking-Bird on

She isn’t against third parties and even acknowledges the problem with the current two party system. Her criticisms are valid. The green party has not built up there coalition. Time and time again they elect Jill Stein to run for president knowing the odds of her winning are slim to none. Calling her a spoil, or a protest vote is more then fair, because that’s what she essentially is.

  15. $hill Stein is a bought and paid for Russian asset, along with Tusli. She has her assignment and she’s going to earn those rubles.

  16. It was a logical takedown, I watched the IG post.
If the Green Party is viable, why hasn’t it grown or made any progress in the last 20 years? AOC’s answer was lousy leadership and she’s probably right.

  17. I hate the word “lashes” out, when a woman calls out simple truth. Makes it seem cat fight-ish. It wasn’t. She laid down facts.

    Subtly masochistic

  18. people who vote for Jill Stein aren’t democrats.

don’t waste your time on them. register non voters instead.

  19. If we agree that the Green Party takes votes from the left, then looking at the amount of votes taken from Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin means we can almost directly blame Jill Stein for the Trump presidency.

  20. Everything AOC is saying about her is correct. It just needs to be louder for the fucking idiots in the back who unironically vote for Stein in order to (checks notes) “smash the two party system”.

Seriously. I had an imbecile claim that an attack on her foreign sponsors was “racist”, and that I was spreading “far right propaganda” by suggesting she is compromised. Don’t do drugs, kids.

  21. I’d love it if Green Party candidates were provided at the local and state level. However even if (big if) she got elected president she would have absolutely no support for meaningful legislation as it is.

  22. The Green Party runs on The Green New Deal, Universal Healthcare, Equal Rights, and Anti-War. Most of those issues have been adopted by the current DNC.

  23. This woman makes zero progress every cycle, has no chance of ever becoming president because she puts in the bare minimal effort so who’s funding these campaigns? You really going to tell me her 1-2% turnout every four years warrants future campaigns? Nah, shits shady.

  24. I, wrongfully, voted for Stein in 2016. I learned all I needed to learn about her immediately after Trump won. Instead of focusing on the bigger threat to everything she said she stood for, Stein continued to attack HRC. Didn’t even bat an eye about Trump. And still doesn’t.

    She can go fuck herself.

God, it angers me so much that the Green Party keeps putting up Jill Stein. On paper they should be my kind of party, but this is idiocy.

Jill Stein is the reason we are in this mess. At least Ralph Nader had a record of integrity.
