    >The 25-year-old, of Pearl Street in Stockport, who pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to four counts of wilfully ill-treating children, is the **second** worker from the nursery to be jailed.

Is it just me or does the nursery itself need to shut down and an investigation to take place? Two babies dying in one nursery must be _highly_ unusual.

Everything about this is sad. The babies. The parents who have no choice but to leave their kids with God knows who because the system is overwhelmed and there aren’t enough places. The hopeless-looking perpetrator in that depressing photo who shouldn’t have been looking after vulnerable people but got a job in the care industry because the pay is so low.

We need to subsidize childcare and pay the workers more in order to attract higher-quality people and pay for proper vetting and training.
