MLB star Ohtani pulls off 3 base steals to reach 46 In Major League Baseball, Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Dodgers stole three bases on Monday to reach 46 for the season.

Against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Ohtani’s first steal came in the fourth inning after he got a walk.

In the seventh, Ohtani reached first base on a hit. He then stole second and third while Mookie Betts was at bat.

Ohtani last pulled off a trio of steals in a single game on August 3 against the Oakland Athletics.

He has successfully beaten the catcher in 92 percent of his steal attempts, to rack up a total of 46.

The most single-season base-steals by a Japanese MLB player is 56 by Suzuki Ichiro when he was playing for the Seattle Mariners in 2001.

Ohtani has already joined the elite 40-40 club by hitting 40 home runs and stealing 40 bases in a single season.

Fans are hoping that the Japanese star will become the first in MLB history to achieve 50-50.
