We’ve tried nothing and now the only way to solve the problem is give up your human rights…

Absolute jokers, they have utter contempt for the general public.

Ah the same party who convinced you it was a good idea to leave the world’s largest trade bloc is now suggesting you give up your human rights too.

Conservatives are an utter irrelevance the next 4-5 years
Who leads them even less so…

If you need to say “we need to human right treaty” just accept that you are in a losing argument. That treaty is protect people from governments

I just find this all so dispiriting and silly. Constant scapegoating, the politics of exploiting problems, not solving them etc. etc. The issues the UK faces have nothing to do with the European Human Rights Act, just like they had nothing to do with being a part of the EU. They mostly boil down to shit education, shit infrastructure, shit laws (which we control but won’t change) and all sorts of problems inherent to our culture.

If the Tories run on this with a credible plan to cut immigration, they have my vote

Otherwise it is going to Reform

  7. GOOD ! Keep going you’ll ensure many more years in the wilderness for what’s left of your party.

Those that want to leave the ECHR should read our history in the ECHR and human rights in general.

Our governments has tried to do some terrible terrible stuff – Restricting lawyers, Evidence gained from torture, blanket police immunity, allowing police officers to investigate their own murders – that was stopped by the ECHR courts.

Skip to the ECHR notable court cases part of you want, it’s rather chilling.

  9. From the party that left the EU to “take back control” and cut immigration to the “10’s of thousands”, and then tripled immigration to 1.2 million.

Maybe he wants his human rights to be taken away. I don’t kink shame. However, there are easier ways to get trodden on Mr Jenrick. Do you mind leaving the rest of us out of your personal life, please?

  11. How about no, and fuck all the way off into the sea?

Leaving the EHRC rules behind is an immediate loss of rights for British born citizens, too. Any moron pushing for this because they’re worried about migration is being duped by the owner class into giving up worker’s rights.

Same thing happened with Brexit; wealthy owner class tricked simpletons into removing rights, becoming poorer, and avoiding new EU tax rules for wealthy individyals, all under the guise of “we’re really worried about immigration” – yeah, cause that worked out really well, didn’t it?

  12. Remind me, did jenrick ever go to prison for interfering in council planning to help his mate get out of 45 million in tax?

Maybe if we started putting people who do stuff like that in prison we wouldn’t have to listen to them tell us why we don’t need human rights…

  13. Complete guff by all sides as always,

British civil liberties are not contingent on ECHR. Never have been, never will be.

The ECHR needs to be amended, like it has numerous times before. That can be achieved without leaving it.

ECHR as it stands is not fit for purpose. It will be amended, well after it should’ve been amended, but it will be amended.

If it is not amended, your worst nightmares are but utopia.
