For Labour to seem different from the scandalous Tory party they need to remove the whip. You can’t stop scandals from happening but you can deal with them the right way. Not to mention that with their huge majority losing 1 seat shouldn’t be a fear.

Starmer swapped out Sam Tarry (who was popular in his constituency) with this toxic landlord in Ilford South because Sam Tarry was a social democrat and had “horrible” views like “we need more affordable housing,” whereas Jas Athwal was a reliable Red Tory landlord. I can remember this sub eating it up at the time… This is what you get when the left is systematically excluded from an ostensibly left-wing party.

  3. This is only going to end one way; this story will run and run and run until Starmer does one of his screeching U-turns and disciplines his slum landlord MP.

The scary thing is how out of touch Sir Keir Starmer, with an act of parliament, for his pension, is with his base.

Not a particular fan of this journo but this piece is on the money: [https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/aug/31/keir-starmer-perks-disconcerting-cash-strapped-britain](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/aug/31/keir-starmer-perks-disconcerting-cash-strapped-britain)
