  1. I honestly don’t think he’s doing it intentionally. I think those are just the places he doesn’t owe money too.

  2. Those are the places that don’t charge money up front and those are the places that finds him welcoming. Maybe he has to leave because of the spray, but he is moving onto the next place anyways.

  3. Johnstown, PA is one of those places that anyone with a few braincells to rub together figured out it isn’t the kind of place that makes any sense at all to try to stay to make a life for yourself.

  4. What, Trump is racist? Next you’ll be telling me he would not rent his New York apartments to Black people, that he would put a big “C” on the tops of applications. He had his own version of a Sundown Town in New York. Black people were prevented from living in those communities through discriminatory policies or intimidation and violence.

  5. I live in Michigan, no one is afraid of going into Howell at night. As a kid in the 80-90s there were urban legends and myths of scary racists. Truthfully it’s a quiet community of bigots that stick to themselves.

Those locations are chosen because he and his base are racist. It is a “not so subtle hint” that it is what they are all celebrating.

He isn’t smart enough t know that, Stephen Miller and Cory on the other hand….

  8. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-backlash-rally-locations-sundown-towns-1947418) reduced by 79%. (I’m a bot)

Trump is just plain stupid. Truly a dotard as characterized by his N Korean girlfriend.

Basically, he’s revealing all of the locations where the CIA, FBI, and others can target additional efforts to monitor these MAGAts looking to do something. He’s basically selling them out.

If any of you looking for a civil war are reading this, just know he doesn’t have your back. How many of the Jan 6. insurrectionists did he help?… just take a rough count. I’ll wait. Now on the other side of the paper, calculate how many of you you’d need to overthrow the government by force.

You’re all expendable. Always are with Trump.

  10. PunfullyObvious on

Trump may not be choosing to rally in sundown towns, but you can bet someone/somegroup coordinating his campaigning are

  11. It’s the campaign team picking the locations as a crowd friendly and places he doesn’t owe money. The Orange turd desperately needs attention and wants to be surrounded by his racist friends.

  12. ImLikeReallySmart on

I don’t think Trump personally is picking these places intentionally. But his campaign team is. He just goes where they tell him he needs to go. He can’t be bothered with logistics like that.

  13. What’s disturbing to me is that there’s enough of these racist shitholes for Trump to maintain to a tour schedule.

Come back Sherman! Our nation needs you!

  14. Since he’s not been paying his bills, his public appearance options are growing smaller and smaller.

  15. BACKLASH????? CONOLD doesn’t give a fuck about BACKLASH, old POS will always deny by putting the blame on others

Example: it was the Gold star family’s fault at Arlington

This is like Reagan’s [“State’s Rights Speech”](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Reagan%27s_1980_States%27_rights_speech?wprov=sfla1) on steroids.

Reagan’s speech at a county fair in Philadelphia, Mississippi in 1980, was near the site where the *Mississippi Burning Murders* had happened just 16 years earlier. It was a clear signal to racist Southern whites, that even though he was from California, he was their guy.

Trump is trying to do the same thing by hanging a lantern on his visits to previous sundown towns.

If his insurection lasts as long as his sex acts, we wouldn’t have any problems with him.

  18. What do you expect? When you are a politician, you have to go where your followers are. Sundown downs is where Trumps followers live.

  19. David Pakman raises the possibility that he has pretty much lost interest and is trying to lose. He’s basically just going through the motions to look like he is doing something.

  20. My family has been dealing with a family member with dementia. Sundowning refers to a deterioration of well being, extreme agitation, and confusion.

I made the mistake of thinking that he was having rallies at senior citizen communities / assisted living spaces.

Oops! We are talking racist places. My bad.

  21. It’s such a bizarre move to campaign in sundown towns where he is overwhelmingly popular and has these towns in the bag, unless the campaign is worried some of these people are just going to stay home on Election Day and they are trying to rally them. Another reason is that Trump’s ego is so concerned with crowd size and counter protesters that these towns are his safe place where he knows he is loved. If that is the case they are wasting time and money.

  22. Whatever happened to that sundown town in Nevada where the locals threatened a Black man by talking about showing him the lynching tree? Do you remember that?

  23. There was that one in Miden, Nevada was forced to take down their siren FINALLY in 2021. My aunt and cousins lived in Johnstown for years before my aunt and other cousin moved down to North Carolina. Still the message is really clear. Hell Trump’s first rally when he announced his candidacy was in Waco, Texas on the 30th anniversary of the Branch Davidian compound burning down.
