Not sure but it looks like you took a picture in the direction of Sagittarius. The “clouds” are the light of the Galactic Center shinning through the gas and dust clouds between here and there (dark spots).
Do you mean the Milky Way? The galaxy our solar system clings to, we’re far from the center so all the clusters look like clouds because it’s so dense. Beautiful.

That my friend is the milky way’s horizontal side, it’s beautiful ain’t it? Wish we could explore it more.

Not sure if it’s the correct terminology, but I always referred to it as the Galactic Plane.

Man, I want to look at this in person. This is so fucking beautiful.

Light pollution has taken away our ancient view of the Milky Way.

I don’t mean any offense by this but your question reminds me of when there was a blackout in Los Angeles in 1994 (from an Earthquake iirc) and people called the observatory (Griffith I think) and asked what that thing in the sky was.

How do you do that? If I point my iPhone at the beautiful night sky I end up with a black image with some white pixels, but nothing beautiful.

This is cute. When your normal life is in a light polluted place and you don’t usually see the “cloud like object”.
I imagine many people never see this truly incredible sight.
It makes you realise why people used to think there were gods.

The brighter one at top center is the “North American” nebula. The bright star to the right of it is Deneb. Most of what you’re seeing here is the constellation of Cygnus, and its associated Milky Way star clouds.

The Milky Way.

Edit: first image in this article shows the galaxy center seen from here in super-spiffy resolution, and it looks pretty much like your picture but aligned on the horizontal. – https://webbtelescope.org/contents/articles/what-is-the-center-of-our-galaxy-like

Nice picture, BTW.
