She moved there in 2016. And says everything would be sorted if they got more tickets.
Give me a break.
It’s not her fault to be fair, she didn’t know they were going to build Croke Park in late 2016.
“My next-door neighbour has to walk to work, now she’s not far away but she’d normally drive”
Boo frickin hoo. If people stopped needlessly driving short distances we’d have less traffic, less air pollution, less noise pollution and a healthier population.
The woman I work with lives beside Croke Park, and she’s grand with it all. She’s lived there 20+ years.
She drove to and from work yesterday with no issues. 🤷🏻♀️
They’d make a fortune renting out a room for the night!
Out of more than 328,000 tickets for Coldplay across four nights, just 200 were allocated to residents, she said.
Give me a break, do people not get embarrassed being such moochers.
Lived on the NCR years ago, our top floor apt looked onto croker (with a stretch), it’s all part of the fabric of the area. First thing Sunday morning, country folk abandoning cars everywhere, drinking tae out of Lemonade bottle, big pan wrappers full of hang sambos. The chippers and pubs cleaning up. Deadly.
I used to live on Clonliffe Road and never had any issues. If the road was very busy and full of pedestrians the Gardaí may ask I get off my 50cc scooter and push it but that’s fair enough.
Yes, you register with Croke Park and there is a lottery for concert tickets. These are not free and if you are selected you go to Croke Park reception and can buy at face value. A far better system than the old method of giving tickets to 11 different resident committees and Father Ted style the tickets would go to the family of organisers. Funny that. When rugby and football were being introduced the same committee members went on Newstalk 104 screaming “freedom of movement” and “human rights”. They were looking for payoffs not for residents but their fiefdoms and hooking up family but that ended with the lottery system.
The worst that ever happened was when they were testing the floodlights and knocked out power for Drumcondra for a little while lol 😂
Urination in gardens, yep it’s an issue. Been a while since I was down Clonliffe Road but I do remember the portable toilets were installed for the day. The Aviva does this on walking routes to the stadium and Kilmainham has this for concerts out on the street and it works well.
Ah what hardship? For some hours you cannot drive but you know the dates months in advance unless it’s a GAA replay and even then you get 6 days notice. The Gardaí were always sound and you have banter at the end of the road with the ticket checkers as you show your residents pass.
Imagine moving beside a National stadium and then being outraged when events are on.
When will we start telling these people to ‘fuck off, your getting nothing’
I live opposite one of the gates. Match days are far more annoying than the odd gig if you ask me. Looking out the window now towards the stadium and it’s clean, the crowd were chill enough. People weren’t pissin in the garden.
Some of the folks around here would want to get a grip.
Was everyone supposed to be clairvoyant enough to see an Oasis reunion over a year ahead of it’s announcement?
I just do not understand how these people consistently get platformed in national media any time they have a gripe. This is not news. It’s not newsworthy. It’s not of public interest.
I used to live near croke park. Yes it’s annoying. But the buzz is sensational. Used to love match days though you’d never move your car for fear of never finding a spot again. While I sympathise a little with this woman she really hasn’t much of a leg to stand on.
This is pure Irish dole mentality. “I’m owed this, I deserve this!”
When in reality, someone needs to tell them no they fucking don’t.
I am from the area and have been my whole life.
For me, and most of the area, we love concerts, gaa games, and whatever else is going on. What is not on is the litter, piss, shit, glass, and other bodily fluids left around.
I have been trying to get my street powerwashed for over 2 months now due to the concerts and GAA games that have happened. I have had to go to local cllrs and TDs to try and get this request filled. Why should we have to live in these conditions? Ther3 should be more bins, more toilets, and maybe the garda actual do their job rather than just standing at a barrier on their phone for the whole day.
“The tickets are offered through a lottery system after the general sale has already started, meaning someone lucky enough in the ballot may have already gone out of pocket for tickets.”
You can resell them for the price you got them.
> but say it was your 50th birthday on the 17th of August next year and you were going to have a big party, you wouldn’t be able to do it.
Not like you’d have a year to change the date of the imaginary party.
I remember a pal of mine moved into a new build estate a few years back, whereupon the local resident group got together to start objecting to the operations of Dublin airport given they’re under the flight path – of the first runway, not even the second one…! It had been around for a little while and you’d suspect they noticed the airplanes while viewing the houses.
Anyways, tl;dr people will object to anything.
>Cathy Power, who has lived on nearby Tolka Road since 2016
What a dick head.
I live nearby Marly and it’s the same sort of carry on by the residents. To be fair it is fairly loud a good few nights over summer and extremely busy especially with Longitude but the money brought in by the council is insane. For example, the golf course in Marly has been upgraded and had loads of the money pumped into it. The lottery for the tickets are also pretty good, we got tickets for Green Day along with a Longitude ticket every year. The moaning by the aul ones in the estate group chat is hilarious EVERY single concert.
The absolute embarrassment of that interview. I’ll be cringing for the rest of the day…
The microwhinging of these would really put you off. I get there are issues but when you’re whinging and cribbing about the tiniest of things it would put you off listening to any of it.
Here’s a bit of inside knowledge Mrs Power if your reading this.
There will be major concerts in Croke Park just about every year. There will also be major sporting events every year.
What a fucking melt.
She said in the article “My neighbour had to walk to work, it’s not that far away but she’d normally drive”.
I know it’s not the point of the article but that is crazy, driving daily to work when you are within walking distance.
I wonder how many more are in the same boat causing traffic congestion for no reason.
We live near Croke Park. Outside of Coldplay waking up our daughter yesterday, we usually have very little issues with concerts. Have more issues with the GAA fans to be honest because they tend to drive more and park all over the place. Concert goers seem more willing to get public transport.
I live in the area, and when we bought our house we were told about the current rules, which iirc are: Croke Park is allowed to have up to three nights of concerts every year as of right, and they can apply for permission to hold a few more.
That means we assume there will be 3-5 nights of concerts a year, and other than COVID that’s what we’ve had. This year it’s actually been 6 I think, with Springsteen, AC/DC and now four nights of Coldplay. The idea she was blindsided by there also being some concerts next year is silly.
“My next-door neighbour has to walk to work, now she’s not far away but she’d normally drive”
Its an inconvenience….but not really 😂 cry me a fucking river.
Did she think that after Coldplay there would never be another concert there again ?
This woman should be banned from croke park and the floodlights positioned into her front room.
Absolute chancer. She should be ashamed
Wait until they hear about the rumoured next round of Garth Brooks shows 👀👀👀
Allegedly he’s playing Belfast next year so there’s bound to be a Dublin show as there’s nowhere big enough in Belfast for him to perform if that’s the only show
She should move somewhere else. Get f%4ked!
She bought a house next to Croke Park in 2016 and then gives out about the stadium hosting concerts. Classic crank. She’s on the mooch for tickets is all.
If public urination and littering is really the issue, the residents can raise this as a priority at the resident’s meeting with the organisers. More stewards should be made available in that case
I live beside Cloniffe rd. Why do we give a voice to such stupid, selfish c*nts. The only people who have a right to complain are the people there before it’s redevelopment

I live beside Croker and have my avenue blocked off, you can get passes for any people coming to your house from the Garda station and there’s loads of Ofo’s about to get her wine after passing the barrier. Most around here love the gigs on, she needs to stop moaning tbh.
