Nothing stopping any party calling door to door or sending out flyers at any time. It’s only election posters on public property that are illegal

Gotta get in early. Aside from writing from the Drogheda Independant. I am not sure she has that great a profile in Drogheda. She is a new candiate. She hasn’t been working as a “community activist” or had any hand in local politics.

I would be more concerned if she wasn’t out knocking on doors yet.

Fitzpatrick announced today that he won’t be running. The odds of her getting elected just improved.

So this is the third post like this in the last few days. The other two were reporting seeing posters up. So I guess this is strongly suggesting a November election, as opposed to the March one?

Did you ask her why she was canvassing at this time?

Sure this sort of thing has been going on donkeys years.

Does anyone remember the billboards all over Dublin back in 2002 with Bertie’s head on them “A lot done more to do”, weeks (months?) before the election was called?

  5. You must live in a remote area, I get several of these through the letter box weekly from all the political parties and the Church of the Latter day saints, someone must be spreading rumors about me being gullible.

  6. Inside secret so ssssssshhhhhhhhh, an election will be held in NOVEMBER but will not be announced until October.
But ssssssshhhhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone I know this ‘inside’ information

  7. There’s a lot of speculation about a November election. I think they’re mad in some ways as the US elections have every crazy on the internet fully charged!

As long as the leaflets do not yet state “Vote No1” or words to that effect, a person can leaflet, even poster in appropriate places (not most poles yet), in any way to introduce themselves to the public.

  9. If you check the news over the past week almost every day there is a new article confirming if someone is/isn’t running, as well as new candidates being selected. It’s across all parties too.

Outside of all the whispers that is a clear sign they’re getting their ducks in a row and it’ll be after the budget.

  10. I mean parties are allowed to call around and canvass, etc.

Everyone and their mother knows it’s happening in November.

Yes and isn’t it wonderful . We are so lucky and privileged in Ireland to live in a first world liberal democracy . Most of the planet would give their left arm for the privilege we have where a young woman can openly put herself forward for election, you can openly without fear vote for or against her and when the results are counted democracy will decide who best to represent the country …..enjoy and appreciate a privilege most don’t have …

  12. We had Willie O’Dea at the door last Sunday morning, who the hell canvases on a Sunday morning 🙄. The dog told him to go away 😁

We are 6 months put from the legally mandated date for the election. Of course they are going to start canvassing

“Working with Senator Erin McGreehan TD”

I wonder if Erin is getting 2 paychecks what with her being both a member of the Seanad AND the Dáil supposedly? Moreover, fair play to her for defying the constitution and holding both roles simultaneously 🙄

  15. No surprise really, budget will be announced which will benefit most people then an election will be called but you’ll have to vote them back in to get said budget.

We’ll be voting either late October or in November.

  16. Down in an elderly relative’s house today and there was a leaflet on the kitchen table. So she’s out and about.
