Brexit has been an unmitigated disaster why is everyone in politics so scared to call it out. Personally I would be embarrassed to win the votes of anyone who still thinks it’s a good idea.

Sad times. We’ve all seen that it was a disaster so time to use the change of government to Rejoin.

Difficult to reverse Brexit because it has such a strong democratic mandate. I’ve always thoughts that if the winning party has it in their manifesto then it should happen but that doesn’t look likely. I wonder if they know that Europe doesn’t want us back/ can’t take us back and that’s why none of the major parties are pushing for it.
Edit: why downvote? Everything I’m saying is relevant to the topic if you disagree comment

He’s going to reverse it in all but name. Problem is we’ll be on far worse terms in a desperate bid to ‘make amends’ for going against the EU in the first place

Why are we pandering to brexiteers / boomers again? As if we haven’t sold them our futures and yet they constantly demand more.

As much as I hate Brexit and its utter failure, this government has no mandate to reverse it.
They have a duty to make the best out of an awful situation and they should easily be able to do better than the Taliban Brexiters.
Hopefully, in five years the mood of the nation will have changed enough so that Labour (and LibDem, Greens, SNP…) will campaign on the promise of a rejoin referendum.

Labour are really a fucking disaster. How many open goals do they want? Yeah, it’s good they’re not the Tories and all that, but they are just as tone deaf!

Yet.
Starmer is facing tough spending calls. And an extra £100bn a year in the economy would be a game changer. But we’re not getting back in quickly, because it would be difficult politically on our side, and impossible on the EU side.
We’ll need enough of the Brexiteers to die off or come to their senses to make the maths sufficiently lop sided. Then we can have an overwhelming referendum to rejoin that the EU can take as a clear sign that our national senses have returned.
In the meantime, we can boil the frog. Take small steps to improve the relationship, remove trade friction where possible. Repair our relationship with our European cousins with steady steps to regain trust.
It’s going to be a long journey. But the Brexiteers need to understand that in winning, they lost. And they’ve made themselves look like fucking idiots in the process.

Starmer: “I’m going to spend 10 years reversing all the shit the Tories did. There will be hard times ahead but the end will justify the means”
Also Starmer: “rejoin the EU? that’s nonsensical and will be a dramatic waste of time. We need to live with that mess”

I wonder if we’ll be debating reversing brexit when we all retire. Feels like the issue that many people will never get over.

Does Labour’s ‘common sense popular opinion policy’-ism really stop the moment it’s actually a good idea? Is this party doing anything good that people actually want? Fucking hell.
