I don’t know if these coupons are brought to the front, scanned or only used on the app? I live in the French parts of Switzerland, in Valais. The coupons have a QR on the front and a barcode on the back. I don’t go to Macdonald’s very often, i usually just buy a meal and sit down, so i never really use coupons for this place.

You order at the kiosks on site, where they have a scanner for the coupons. Or you order it on your phone if you have the app, I think, and then scan it via phone camera.
Same coupon are in the McDonald’s app. Makes it easy to order and pay
Or you go to the counter and show your coupon to the cashier. That’s the easiest method.
If you’re in the restaurant, you scan the barcode when you begin your order on the machine, the scanner should be in a little window under the screen on the left. But if you’re still unsure, you can always ask one of the employees to help you.
If you’re at the drive through, announce that you have the coupons directly and the cashier will tell you what to do.
The qr codes are links to download the McDonalds app if I’m not mistaken so they can’t be scanned at the machines.
