The NHK Symphony Orchestra held a concert in Taiwan for the first time in eight years, attracting a large audience with the participation of a Taiwan-born violinist.
The orchestra wrapped up its three-day Taiwan tour in a concert hall in Taipei on Sunday.
The program included the overture to the opera “Der Freischutz” by German composer Weber and “Violin Concerto No.1” by Bruch, another German composer.
The soloist, Taiwan-born Paul Huang, received resounding applause for his well-coordinated performance with the orchestra.
After the program, Huang told the audience that exchanges between Taiwan and Japan have been very close, and that he would like to open a new chapter in relations through this joint performance.
For the encore, he played alongside a violinist of the orchestra.
A man in his 40s who lives in Taipei said he was moved by the collaboration. He said that he was very happy that the concert was held in Taiwan.
A woman in her 40s who traveled from the southern city of Chiayi said each member’s performance was excellent.
