Airdo airline to ditch staff name tags amid customer harassment Japan regional airline Airdo has decided to remove name tags for its ground staff to protect their identities from abusive customers.

The move comes as such harassment has become a major problem in the transportation industry.

NHK has learned Airdo will introduce the policy as early as next month. It will cover ground staff only, such as those at check-in counters. Flight attendants will continue to wear name tags.

Airdo and its labor union say ground staff are especially vulnerable to abuse, including verbal insults or unreasonable demands for compensation when flights are canceled.

Major carriers Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways have also recently announced policies to counter the increasing number of harassment incidents in the industry.
