I came across an article which says that according to the recent DESI discoveries dark energy could be getting weaker.

If I am understanding this correctly, then at some point, the acceleration of the expansion of the universe will dip below 0 and result in Big Crunch. Does this mean that Big Crunch is now most likely to be the fate of our universe?
How likely is Big Crunch in lights of recent DESI discoveries?

Is acceleration is slowly then yes the likely extrapolation of that is that eventually gravity dominates and we get a Big Crunch.
However, this is one result which suggests this. Which disagrees with a lot of other results not concluding this.
More certainty and more results are needed for this to become the general consensus. Science isn’t changed by one ‘maybe’ paper.
For now it doesn’t seem to be the ultimate fate of the universe.
